What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions that enable business intelligence and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Here's a comprehensive overview of your key responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with Source Data Teams: Work closely with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement, and support analytics solutions that provide insights for better decision-making
  • Build Data Infrastructure: Execute data migration and data engineering solutions using Azure products and services including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks, and traditional data warehouse tools
  • Full Development Lifecycle Management: Perform multiple aspects of the development lifecycle including planning, cloud engineering (infrastructure, networking, security, and governance), ingestion, preparation, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance tuning, deployment, usage, BI, alerting, and nudge support
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently to deliver high-quality data solutions
  • DevOps Ownership: Be part of a DevOps team that completely owns and supports their product, ensuring reliability and performance
  • Data Pipeline Development: Implement batch and streaming data pipelines using cutting-edge cloud technologies
  • Best Practices Implementation: Drive improvement of coding standards, best practices, and protection and security guidelines across the team
  • Mentorship: Mentor others on technical and domain skills to create multi-functional teams that excel in data engineering excellence

All You'll Need for Success

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Prior Work Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of programming solution development using agile, DevOps, working in an item model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions
  • 3 years of data analysis experience using SQL

Technical Proficiency in the Following Areas:


  • Programming Languages: Python, Scala, Unix, SQL
  • Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake
  • Cloud Technologies: Azure Data Explorer, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Mass Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Applications, and Azure Functions
  • CI/CD Tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform
  • BI Analysis Tools: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, and Grafana
  • Data Warehousing: DataStage, Informatica
  • Data Governance and Protection: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of programming solution development using agile, DevOps, product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions
  • 3+ years of data analysis experience using SQL
  • 3+ years of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure
  • 3+ years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure) including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Mass Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Applications, and Power BI
  • Aviation Industry Experience – Understanding the unique data challenges and opportunities in the airline sector

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications


  • Proficiency with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and creating usage layers
  • Expertise in providing functional direction within the Azure Native cloud services
  • Azure Development Track Certification (preferred)

  • Scala Certification (preferred)
