Remote, USA Full-time Immediate Start

Join arenaflex's Revolutionary Silicon Design Team

Are you ready to be part of something extraordinary? At arenaflex, we don't just build technology – we shape the future of computing. As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, transforming groundbreaking ideas into reality that impacts millions of users worldwide. This is your opportunity to design the silicon that powers the next generation of computing experiences.

In this part-time role, you'll join an elite silicon design group responsible for crafting cutting-edge Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). Your work will contribute to creating chips that push the boundaries of performance and power efficiency, enabling devices that deliver unprecedented user experiences. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex, meaningful projects that challenge your engineering skills and expand your professional horizons.

What You'll Do

As an integral member of our silicon design team, you'll take creative and innovative ideas and determine how to bring them to life. You'll apply engineering fundamentals and start from scratch when necessary, turning imaginative concepts into tangible reality. Your contributions will be significant, often literally shaping the future of technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Advanced Custom Digital Megacells: Develop state-of-the-art SRAM memories, on-chip sensors, machine learning accelerators, and data path circuits for high-performance, low-power System-on-Chip (SOC) implementations

  • Optimize Power Efficiency: Create custom circuits that dramatically improve chip power efficiency, extending battery life and reducing energy consumption across our product ecosystem

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with power teams, physical design (PD) engineers, and system architects to define specifications and requirements that meet demanding performance targets

  • Execute Full Design Cycle: Perform design, analysis, modeling/simulation, circuit-level specifications, schematic capture, spice simulation/corner verification across PVT (Process, Voltage, Temperature), statistical design, functional verification, and silicon bring-up

  • Layout Excellence: Partner closely with the layout team to complete designs and oversee layout quality, ensuring optimal circuit performance and manufacturability

  • Drive Design Innovation: Originate and lead circuit methodologies to achieve the highest design quality metrics and push the boundaries of what's possible in silicon

  • Silicon Debug & Analysis: Conduct experiments during silicon debug, manufacturing, and data analysis phases; utilize scripting to efficiently process ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) data

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field

  • Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience in semiconductor design

  • Advanced Node Expertise: Design experience in cutting-edge technology nodes (advanced submicron processes)

  • Low-Power Design Skills: Proven experience in low-voltage and low-power custom circuit design

  • Technical Depth: Deep understanding of deep submicron device physics, leakage mechanisms, and technology interactions with device behavior

  • Circuit Analysis: Strong comprehension of device matching, device noise sources (1/f, thermal), and external noise sources (supply, jitter), and their impact on high-precision circuits

  • Programming Abilities: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, or similar) and CAD automation tools

  • Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-standard circuit and design tools

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly preferred:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerators and machine learning hardware

  • SRAM (Static Random-Access Memory) circuit design

  • Non-volatile memories (NVM)

  • Weak/moderate inversion circuits

  • Ultra-low power amplifiers

  • DC/DC converters

  • Advanced on-chip sensors

  • High-speed timing circuits
