Position Overview

arenaflex is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence and Analytics Platform team. This is a remote position offering competitive compensation ranging from $22 to $30 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in driving data-informed decision-making across the organization.

The Business Strategy and Operations team at arenaflex is responsible for driving all cross-to-market capabilities for the business, including strategy and business operations, analytics and data science, partnership enablement, and product activation. We are dedicated to shaping cross-to-market priorities to accelerate growth and resource the business accordingly, improving capabilities and competencies to support execution of business priorities, driving efficiency across business operations, and building exceptional cross-to-market infrastructure including data, reports, and dashboards.

This team combines strategic, operational, and problem-solving skills with a practical sense of how to get things done and drive change across a global enterprise. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be integral to our mission of transforming raw data into actionable insights that power arenaflex's continued success.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data infrastructure that enables our business teams to make data-driven decisions. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to serve millions of users worldwide and maintain our position as an industry leader.

Requirements Gathering & Project Scoping: Conduct comprehensive requirements gathering and project scoping sessions with subject matter experts, business users, and executive stakeholders to identify and define business data requirements. You will serve as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that data solutions align with organizational objectives.

Data Architecture Design: Design, build, and optimize data architecture and extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines to make them accessible for business data analysts, data scientists, and enterprise users. You will create scalable and efficient data workflows that can handle large volumes of information while maintaining high performance and reliability.

Productionization & Scaling: Work closely with analysts to productionize and scale value-creating capabilities, including data integrations and differences, model features, and statistical and machine learning models. You will ensure that analytical solutions are robust, reproducible, and ready for production deployment.

Data Quality & Governance: Drive the highest standards in data reliability, data integrity, and data governance, enabling accurate, consistent, and trustworthy data sets, business intelligence products, and analyses. You will implement best practices for data quality management and establish governance frameworks that ensure compliance with organizational standards.

Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with the analyst community, communicate with analysts to understand critical user journeys and data sourcing inefficiencies, recommend best practices, and lead analyst training sessions. You will serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for data-related initiatives across the organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to understand data needs and deliver solutions that drive business value. You will participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and technical specifications. Share knowledge with team members through workshops, code reviews, and technical documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative area such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. We value diverse educational backgrounds and recognize that equivalent professional experience can substitute for formal education.

Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or business intelligence roles. This experience should demonstrate your ability to design and implement data solutions that meet business requirements.

Database Expertise: Experience with relational databases, including SQL queries, database definition, and schema layout. You should be proficient in writing complex queries and optimizing database performance.

Programming Skills: Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar technologies. You should be comfortable writing clean, maintainable code and understanding software development best practices.

Remote Work Capability: Must be able to work effectively in a remote environment, demonstrating strong self-motivation, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate virtually with team members across different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree: Master's degree in a quantitative subject such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics. An advanced degree demonstrates deeper technical expertise and analytical capabilities.

Big Data Technologies: Experience with data warehouses, distributed data platforms, and data lakes. Familiarity with tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-based data warehousing solutions is highly valued.

Cloud Platform Experience: Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure, particularly with data-related services and tools.

Machine Learning Integration: Experience integrating machine learning models into production data pipelines and understanding of MLOps practices.
