About the Data Ventures Team

Our Data Ventures team is at the heart of arenaflex's data-driven transformation. We build reusable, scalable technologies that power customer acquisition, seamless onboarding, and merchant empowerment. We're the force behind creating affordable yet personalized experiences across all customer touchpoints—in-store, mobile apps, and web platforms.

This team supports our U.S. Marketplace operations, focusing on delivering rapid, effective solutions for seller inquiries and tickets. What You'll Do

Are you ready to dive into one of the largest data ecosystems in the world? As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our retail operations. Your work will directly enable data scientists and analysts to derive insights that shape business decisions affecting millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Data Transformation and Integration: Extract data from identified databases and create robust data pipelines. Transform raw data into relevant, usable formats by selecting appropriate methods. Stay current with emerging data analysis trends and best practices.
  • Data Source Identification: Support the understanding of requirement specifications and service level agreements. Identify the most suitable data sources that align with business objectives. Perform initial data quality checks on extracted datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Data Modeling: Analyze complex data elements, systems, data streams, relationships, and dependencies to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models. Develop Logical Data Models and Physical Data Models, including data warehouse and data lake designs. Define relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures. Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and inconsistencies. Investigate data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Code Development and Testing: Write code to develop required solutions and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and utilizing business, technical, and data requirements. Create test cases to review and validate proposed solution designs. Build proof-of-concept implementations. Test code using appropriate methodologies. Deploy software to production servers. Contribute to code documentation, maintain playbooks, and provide timely development updates.
  • Applied Business Acumen: Provide recommendations to business partners to address complex business challenges. Develop business cases for projects with projected return on investment or cost savings. Translate business requirements into tasks, activities, and milestones while adapting to overall business processes. Deliver tangible solutions and results that meet evolving business needs. Suggest new processes and approaches to improve operational efficiency.
  • Data Governance: Establish, adjust, and report on data governance activities and recommendations. Implement data governance practices in collaboration with business partners and peers. Interpret organizational and regulatory policies on data. Educate others on data governance processes, practices, methodologies, and rules. Provide recommendations for required updates or contributions to data governance policies, practices, or rules.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Demonstrate exceptional expertise and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others. Support and adjust efforts to meet client and business needs while building commitment for perspectives and reasoning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build relationships and networks with key stakeholders to support the execution of business solutions. Identify business needs, determine, and execute essential processes and practices.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Promote and support organizational policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity through training and providing guidance to others. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Ensure business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, projects, and initiatives. Apply concepts for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness. Participate in and support community outreach events.
  • Documentation and Training: Create training documentation and train end-users on data modeling. Supervise the tasks of less experienced programmers and provide system troubleshooting support.

What You'll Bring

Essential Qualifications:


  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with Hadoop, Spark, Cloud platforms, Python/PySpark, and Java. Experience with streaming technologies and Kafka. Strong background in backend development.
  • Programming Skills: A proven track record coding with at least one programming language such as Scala or Python.
  • Cloud Platform Experience: Familiarity with at least one major cloud computing platform such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Data Modeling: Strong skills in data modeling and data migration protocols. Ability to design efficient and scalable data structures.
  • Big Data Solutions: Experience building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems.
  • Integration Tools: Experience with integration tools such as Automic, Wind Flow, or similar platforms.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Hands-on experience with Databricks for big data analytics.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB, combined with RDBMS experience (MySQL, PostgreSQL).

  • Practical working experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka.

  • Experience with GCP and data warehousing solutions.

  • Business Intelligence (BI) experience.

  • Ability to increase team efficiency by optimizing cycles of software development, requirement gathering, and effort estimation.

  • Demonstrated innovative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Two or more years of progressive experience in data engineering, database engineering, or business intelligence roles.
