The Role

We are looking for a Senior Game Engine Tools Engineer who shares our passion for empowering game developers through elegant technical solutions. In this role, you'll be the bridge between our artistic vision and technical execution, working across all disciplines to multiply our team's efforts and enhance overall performance.

You'll collaborate closely with our Art, Design, and Engineering groups to understand their workflows, identify pain points, and develop solutions that streamline our development process. Key Responsibilities


  • Proactively identify workflow inefficiencies and elaborate areas for improvement across all development disciplines, from initial concept through final delivery

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Art, Design, and Engineering to understand their unique challenges and workflow requirements

  • Generate candidate solutions for identified problems, carefully weighing tradeoffs given specific context and development timelines

  • Implement selected solutions with careful attention to code quality, documentation, and long-term maintainability

  • Drive adoption of new tools and processes by providing comprehensive training, documentation, and ongoing support to team members

  • Maintain, extend, and support our existing suite of development tools that our teams use daily

  • Build and guide custom asset pipelines that automate repetitive tasks and ensure consistency across our projects

  • Develop arenaflex's proprietary libraries, tools, and technologies across multiple game engines and frameworks

  • Contribute to technical architecture decisions that impact the long-term scalability and flexibility of our development infrastructure

Essential Qualifications


  • Passion for empowering others – A genuine desire to help colleagues succeed through thoughtful technical solutions

  • Complete device lifecycle experience – Proven track record of identifying issues, analyzing potential solutions, implementing tools, and evaluating their effectiveness in real-world production environments

  • Standalone tool development experience – Demonstrated experience building custom, independent software solutions

  • Multi-disciplinary tool experience – Experience developing tools that serve various game development disciplines including art, design, programming, and QA

  • Programming proficiency – Strong skills in C#, C++, and Python

  • Self-direction capability – Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, manage your own priorities, and deliver results on schedule

  • Strong communication skills – Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical team members and gather requirements effectively

  • Game engine experience – Direct experience working with custom game engines, not just using them but understanding their underlying architecture
