What You'll Do

As a Transportation Analytics Business Intelligence Specialist at arenaflex, you'll be at the heart of our data-driven decision-making process. Your contributions will directly impact how we optimize routes, manage costs, and deliver excellence to our customers. Here's what you can expect to be involved in:

Data Analysis & Insight Generation

• Work with large, complex, and sometimes messy datasets from multiple disparate sources to conduct ad-hoc analyses that inform critical business decisions


• Design and implement ETL processes and methodologies that pull data from various locations and centralize it into unified, accessible tables for comprehensive analysis


• Develop robust data models that maintain data integrity while enabling cross-functional teams to extract the insights they need


• Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within our transportation data that can drive operational improvements and cost savings

Data Visualization & Communication

• Create impactful, user-friendly Tableau dashboards that effectively communicate complex data findings to stakeholders across the organization


• Leverage your creativity with a User Experience foundation to design visualizations that drive action and engagement


• Develop data visualizations that display and quantify the effects of operational changes and highlight specific business challenges


• Present findings in clear, compelling formats that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Engage regularly with team members and cross-functional groups to establish credibility and build strong working relationships


• Analyze stakeholder needs and partner with them to deliver relevant, timely information that supports their objectives


• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Product teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and latency across multiple systems


• Serve as a trusted advisor who bridges the gap between data complexity and business impact

Automation & Process Improvement

• Leverage scripting languages (Python preferred) to automate repetitive reporting tasks, including screenshot generation, metrics prioritization, and outlier recognition


• Develop automated solutions that increase efficiency and reduce manual effort in recurring analytical processes


• Continuously seek opportunities to improve data pipelines and analytical workflows

Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship

• Document your processes, methodologies, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer across the team


• Share your expertise with peers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement


• Mentor fellow team members as you develop into a Subject Matter Expert in transportation analytics

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

• Advanced SQL Skills (2-4 years): You must have excellent SQL skills with the ability to manipulate data from multiple tables while maintaining data integrity. You should be comfortable writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and working with various SQL dialects.


• Data Visualization Expertise (1-2 years): Creativity with a User Experience foundation is essential to develop impactful Tableau Dashboards. You should have a proven track record of creating visualizations that not only look great but drive meaningful business insights.


• Business Operations Fluency: You need the ability to understand and root cause business problems. A background in Supply Chain is ideal, with specific experience in transportation operations being highly valued. Understanding the "why" behind the numbers is crucial to success in this role.


• Exceptional Communication Skills: You must be able to work cross-functionally and translate technical concepts into business language that resonates with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Advanced experience with SQL and Tableau, including dashboard development and performance optimization


• Hands-on experience with e-commerce operations or parcel service operations


• Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation and data analysis


• Experience with data manipulation tools such as KNIME, Alteryx, R, Tableau Prep, or similar platforms


• Knowledge of cloud data platforms and modern data architecture patterns


• Familiarity with statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques
