Position Overview
As an Information Researcher – Real World Evidence at arenaflex, you will be responsible for generating high-quality real-world evidence through advanced analytical methods and innovative approaches in the clinical research space. You will serve as a critical member of our Scientific Issues team, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to address complex business questions through sophisticated data analysis.
This role reports to the Executive Director of Clinical Data Science and offers the opportunity to collaborate with internal teams as well as external partners in the biopharmaceutical industry. You will have the chance to work on diverse projects ranging from analyzing unmet medical needs and treatment patterns to healthcare economic burden assessments and cost-effectiveness modeling.
Key Responsibilities
As an Information Researcher – RWE at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with a variety of responsibilities that leverage your expertise in data science and healthcare analytics:
- Data Mining and Preparation: Extract and transform raw datasets from internal data resources and licensed platforms to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts. You will clean, transform, and store data into a structured data lake environment, ensuring accessibility for future analyses and broader team utilization.
- Statistical Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct advanced statistical analyses to interpret results and help shape overall research strategy. Apply sophisticated analytical techniques to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations within complex healthcare datasets.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources. Collaborate on requests from biopharmaceutical clients seeking real-world evidence and clinical trial support.
- Research Project Involvement: Contribute to projects analyzing unmet treatment needs, safety and efficacy profiles in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling. Your work will directly inform pharmaceutical development decisions and market access strategies.
- Real-World Data Quality Assessment: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors. Drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and ensure the highest standards of data integrity.
- Insights Generation: Perform data mining and statistical analysis on RWE/RWD to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Study Design and Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies. Apply rigorous methodological approaches to ensure study validity and reliability.
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use. Create compelling visualizations that effectively communicate complex findings to diverse audiences, including regulatory bodies and pharmaceutical clients.
- Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities. Apply advanced analytical tools and techniques to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain rigorous standards for reproducibility and transparency in all analytical work.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in statistical analysis and healthcare data research:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, public health, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees are strongly preferred.
- Statistical Expertise: Demonstrated experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical investigations in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Strong command of common statistical testing techniques including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
- Data Handling Experience: Proven experience processing large datasets from multiple data sources. Familiarity with data pipeline development, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Healthcare Data Knowledge: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with a strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and data privacy requirements.
- Analytics Tools Proficiency: Proficiency in at least one of the following: SAS, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization tools.

- Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Electronic Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Familiarity with clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10/ReadCode).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
- Innovative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and mobile health solutions.
- Advanced Statistical Methods: Knowledge of experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational statistics.
- Machine Learning Proficiency: Understanding of machine learning techniques with the ability to continuously self-learn both technical and non-technical skills.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare analytics industry is highly desirable.
