Position Overview
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building the data pipelines that fuel our advertising intelligence. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and infrastructure teams to create robust data architectures that facilitate forecasting of subscriber movements and key performance metrics.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work on large-scale data systems that process millions of data points daily, contributing to solutions that are fundamental to arenaflex's streaming future. You'll collaborate across disciplines, identifying internal and external data sources, designing table structures, defining ETL frameworks, and implementing automated Data Quality checks that ensure reliability and accuracy across our data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Data Source Integration: Work with engineering teams to gather required data from internal and external systems, ensuring data integrity and optimal processing workflows
- Architecture Design: Design table structures and define ETL pipelines to build performant data solutions that are reliable and scalable in a rapidly evolving data ecosystem
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement comprehensive Data Quality checks to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all pipelines
- Pipeline Management: Create and maintain ETL schedules using industry-standard ETL and orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Database Optimization: Execute database organizations using tools like dbt (data build tool) to enhance query performance and data accessibility
- Ad-Hoc Analysis: Perform specialized analysis as business needs arise, providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making
- Performance Tuning: Conduct SQL and ETL tuning as required to optimize system performance and ensure efficient resource utilization
Essential Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant data engineering experience
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles including Hierarchical modeling and data normalization standards
- Proficient understanding of SQL databases with the ability to conduct advanced performance tuning
- Experience with ETL and data orchestration tools
- Knowledge of data pipeline architecture and best practices
Analytical & Soft Skills
- Ability to think conceptually and analyze complex market and customer information
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with experience in presentations
- Excellent applied and analytical thinking capabilities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum principles and functions
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of work experience implementing and covering business key performance indicators in data warehousing environments
- 2+ years of experience using analytical SQL, working with traditional relational databases and/or distributed systems (Snowflake or Redshift)
- 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as Python or PySpark
- 2+ years of experience with data integration/ETL tools such as Airflow or NiFi
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, EMR, or Flash platforms
- Experience with cloud-based data solutions and modern data architecture patterns
- Understanding of streaming data processing and real-time analytics
