Position Overview
We are currently seeking an exceptional Supply Chain and Logistics Attorney to join our Boston-based Legal team. This is a global and highly cross-functional role with responsibility across all aspects of our supply chain, fulfillment, and transportation operations. This legal counsel professional will build deep relationships and work collaboratively with their business partners while demonstrating entrepreneurial abilities and the capacity to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
This position will be located in our Boston office with a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office and 1 day remote each week. This arrangement provides the perfect balance between collaborative in-person engagement and flexible remote work.
What You'll Do
As a key member of our Legal team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our global supply chain operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Primary Legal Counsel: Serve as the essential legal advisor for all global supply chain and logistics matters and initiatives, including acting as the primary contact for the operations leadership team.
- End-to-End Transactional Support: Provide comprehensive transactional support, including negotiating, structuring, and drafting complex business transactions while managing contract templates and client and supplier-facing program agreements.
- Procurement Endeavors: Handle matters related to sea carrier agreements, transportation and delivery carrier acquisition, and vendor arrangements for consolidation, export, and other origin services.
- Service Offerings: Manage warehousing, fulfillment, ocean, cartage, and consolidation sales templates and terms.
- Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain strategic partnerships that drive operational excellence and compliance across the organization.
- Compliance Programs: Partner closely with the business to build and maintain robust compliance programs and manage a centralized compliance database for regulated activities, including FMC (Federal Maritime Commission) and DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance.
- Process Optimization: Drive efficiency in higher volume workstreams by utilizing templates, playbooks, and self-service tools to streamline operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other attorneys in the Legal department and across the business as a supply chain subject matter expert.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks while supporting business objectives and strategic growth initiatives.
What You'll Need
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Professional Experience: 4-7 years of relevant legal experience, with related experience in e-commerce logistics and ocean shipping preferred.
- Educational Background: J.D. degree from a top-tier law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Bar Admission: Active membership in at least one state bar.
- Action-Oriented Mindset: A bias toward action, including a willingness to roll up your sleeves, contribute, and tackle complex issues with the broader arenaflex team, including both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Highly effective, business-friendly, and persuasive writing and interpersonal abilities, including strong negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
- Project Management Expertise: Experience managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining flexibility in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strategic Thinking: The ability to anticipate legal issues and provide proactive counsel that aligns with business objectives.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with international trade regulations, logistics operations, and supply chain management is highly desirable.
