What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
Patient Experience & Engagement
- Greet patients warmly and offer knowledgeable assistance with products and services, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the first interaction
- Resolve patient concerns and questions promptly and professionally, ensuring every patient leaves with a positive impression of arenaflex's commitment to care
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service best practices, including friendly body language, genuine eye contact, and courteous communication that reflects arenaflex's core values
- Anticipate patient needs and proactively offer services that enhance their healthcare experience, including medication management and health consultations
- Support efforts to elevate patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through arenaflex, including patient consultations, prescription management, medication therapy reviews, and clinical services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing
- Participate in community events and outreach programs that reflect the unique communities we serve, as directed by store leadership
Pharmacy Operations & Medication Management
- Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generic alternatives, more affordable medications, and over-the-counter products
- Refer patients to medical providers as needed to ensure medications are taken correctly, health needs are addressed, and patients are satisfied with their care
- Perform pharmacist duties including medication compounding, medication therapy reviews, verification, and comprehensive medication management
- Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications when required by duty, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and safety
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in full compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, and established quality standards
- Assist pharmacy leadership in establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow, including task assignment, scheduling optimization, and incorporating team suggestions for continuous improvement
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy technology systems including workflow management, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training modules, inventory management, and point-of-sale operations
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections, including follow-up with insurance companies and healthcare providers
- Collaborate with clinical providers to clarify prescription details, dosages, refill schedules, drug interactions, and allergies, proposing alternative medications when appropriate
- Administer clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services as needed
- Analyze pharmacy performance data including financial metrics, customer service indicators, and policy compliance to support inventory management and asset protection
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the local medical community including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
- Participate in community outreach activities to promote pharmacy services, enhance learning opportunities, and contribute to healthier communities through improved access to care
- Partner with centralized support teams for patient enrollment, exception resolution, and issue escalation
Team Leadership & Development
- Support pharmacy leadership with staff hiring and training initiatives
- Participate in the performance management process by providing coaching, constructive feedback, and supporting colleague development
- Promote teamwork and motivate colleagues by establishing clear expectations, monitoring progress, recognizing achievements, and fostering a shared vision for excellence
Continuous Learning & Professional Growth
- Maintain current knowledge and required licensing, credentials, and certifications as established by federal and state regulations to offer clinical services
- Stay current with pharmacy and healthcare knowledge by reading professional journals, company publications, and industry communications
- Remain aware of developments in retail pharmacy and management practices, pursuing best practices that enhance performance
- Pursue necessary certifications, education credits, and training as required by the organization
- Seek professional development opportunities by monitoring personal performance, requesting constructive feedback, and utilizing pharmacy leadership as mentors
- Support pharmacy leadership by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services and procedural information to pharmacy staff
What We're Looking For: Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Licensure: Current pharmacist licensure in the state(s) within the assigned region
- Experience: Experience performing prescription dispensing activities demonstrating strong knowledge of relevant state and federal controlled substance regulations
- Certification: Certified Immunizer or willingness to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems, and insurance processing
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and exceptional communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also functioning independently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with pharmacy technology systems and willingness to learn new platforms
