Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineering Specialist to join our Supported Search Information team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data pipelines, datasets, and ETL processes for arenaflex's Sponsored Search Advertising platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and reliability for analysis and reporting purposes.

This full-time position offers flexibility with both night and day shift options, and the ability to work remotely from the comfort of your home. You'll be joining a team that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence in everything we do.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for candidates who possess a strong foundation in data engineering principles and have hands-on experience with modern data technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Technical Expertise: Proven aptitude in data engineering concepts, database design, ETL processes, and data mining techniques. You should be comfortable working with large-scale data systems and understand the complexities of processing high-volume data flows.


• Programming Proficiency: Strong capabilities in working with data technologies including SQL, Python, Flash, Scala, Hadoop, and related technologies and tools. Experience with at least one scripting language is essential for automating processes and building efficient data workflows.


• ETL Tools Experience: Familiarity with ETL tools such as Apache Airflow (originally mentioned as "Wind current" - likely a typo for Airflow). Understanding of data orchestration and workflow management is crucial for this role.


• Database Skills: Solid experience working with relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases such as Cassandra. You should be able to design efficient database schemas and optimize queries for performance.


• Stream Processing: Experience with real-time text processing using Apache Kafka. Understanding of event streaming architectures and their application in data pipeline development is highly valued.


• Data Modeling: Experience designing and implementing data models for efficient storage and retrieval. This includes understanding of dimensional modeling, normalization, and data warehousing concepts.


• Innovation Mindset: A growth-oriented outlook and a willingness to raise the technical bar, as well as identify potential opportunities for improving existing processes, tools, and systems to achieve high scale and productivity.


• Containerization & Orchestration: Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes or equivalent containerization technologies. Familiarity with containerized application deployment in cloud environments.


• Cloud Platform Expertise: Experience with Cloud Computing Services like Google GCP and Microsoft Azure, as well as Distributed Storage Systems like Hive and Elasticsearch or similar technologies.


• Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences. You should be comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

• Build and Maintain Data Pipelines: Construct and maintain robust, flexible data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing large volumes of data to support advertising on arenaflex.com and its subsidiaries. You'll work with petabytes of data, ensuring it's processed efficiently and reliably.


• Cloud Platform Development: Work on cloud platforms like Azure and Google Cloud for data storage, processing, and analysis. You'll leverage the full power of cloud-native technologies to build scalable, cost-effective solutions.


• Scalable Application Deployment: Create and deploy large-scale, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in public clouds like Google GCP and Microsoft Azure. You'll ensure our applications can scale to meet demand during peak shopping seasons.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other Scrum teams, QA, Product, Program Management, and Partner Operations, while working alongside cross-functional enterprise development teams. You'll be the bridge between technical implementation and business requirements.


• On-Call Support: Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to investigate production issues across cross-functional teams. You'll play a critical role in maintaining system reliability and quickly resolving any issues that arise.


• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes, tools, and systems. You'll be encouraged to innovate and propose new solutions that improve efficiency and scalability.
