About the Role

Are you passionate about technology and ready to be at the heart of digital infrastructure? arenaflex is seeking a talented and motivated Data Center Technician to join our dynamic Hardware Operations team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the physical infrastructure that powers arenaflex's cutting-edge technology platform. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in hands-on technical environments and want to be part of something truly transformative.

As a Data Center Technician at arenaflex, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware components including servers and their various elements, as well as server software running on Linux-based systems. You will also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols. Your work will involve participating in or leading small project teams on large installations and developing project contingency plans.

A typical day in this role includes manual movement and installation of racks, and while it can sometimes be physically demanding, you will be excited to work with infrastructure that is at the cutting edge of computer technology. Behind everything our customers see online is the architecture built through our Technical Infrastructure group to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of arenaflex platforms, we make aren'taflex's product portfolio possible.

What You'll Do

As an integral member of our infrastructure team, you will contribute to ensuring the reliability and performance of our data center operations. Here are the key responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Deployment: Contribute and lead efforts and projects in the deployment, maintenance, and support of cutting-edge and new data center infrastructure systems and components.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Participate in or lead troubleshooting efforts and resolve critical or escalated technical issues affecting server performance, network connectivity, or hardware functionality.

  • Hardware Testing: Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs, ensuring they meet arenaflex's rigorous quality and performance standards before full deployment.

  • Linux System Administration: Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS-related issues on servers, working with our Linux-based clustering systems and ensuring optimal performance.

  • Server and Network Management: Deploy and maintain aren'taflex's advanced data center server and network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and associated networking equipment.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all installations, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures to support knowledge sharing and team efficiency.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including network engineers, software developers, and facilities staff to ensure seamless operations.

  • High School Diploma: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education in a related field is a plus but not mandatory.

  • Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting equipment, climbing, and working in confined spaces within data center environments.

  • Technical Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out and accelerate your success in this role:

  • Data Center Environment Experience: Experience working within a data center or network operations center environment, understanding the unique challenges and requirements of 24/7 operational environments.

  • Coding or Scripting Skills: Experience with mild coding or scripting (such as Python, Bash, Perl, or similar languages) to automate tasks and improve efficiency.

  • Networking Protocol Knowledge: Familiarity with networking protocols and their practical applications in enterprise environments.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to collaborate and partner with people and teams to overcome challenges and achieve common goals.

  • Industry Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or similar are beneficial but not required.
