Position Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data Solutions team at arenaflex. This is a senior-level position responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and architectures that support our organization's analytical and operational needs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in data engineering, strong technical expertise in cloud-based platforms, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including data scientists, business analysts, and software engineers.
In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of data design and architecture, working closely with various business groups to understand their data requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable solutions. You will leverage your deep expertise in Python, SQL, and cloud technologies to build robust data pipelines, optimize data workflows, and ensure data quality and accessibility across the organization. Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in our data infrastructure strategy. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and Building Data Pipelines: Develop and maintain large-scale data architectures and pipelines that effectively collect, aggregate, normalize, and transform data from multiple sources to generate actionable insights and meet complex reporting requirements.
- ETL Development: Write, optimize, and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using industry best practices. Design efficient database schemas and create robust tools for both real-time and batch processing of data.
- Collaboration with Data Science Teams: Work closely with data scientists to transform raw data, integrate algorithms and machine learning models into automated production pipelines, and support advanced analytics initiatives.
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Utilize experience with cloud-based platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred, with familiarity in AWS or Azure acceptable) to build and manage scalable data infrastructure.
- Big Data Technologies: Apply expertise in Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies to process large volumes of data efficiently. Design and optimize queries to build high-performance data pipelines.
- Programming and Automation: Leverage strong programming skills in Python (or other major programming languages) to build resilient data pipelines, dynamic systems, and automation tools that streamline data operations.
- Data Modeling and Storage: Construct and maintain data stores and comprehensive data models that support data science initiatives and internal business users. Integrate data from diverse sources while ensuring adherence to data quality standards and accessibility protocols.
- Technology Assessment: Analyze current information technology environments to identify and assess critical capabilities. Provide strategic recommendations for technological improvements and solutions.
- Innovation and Tool Evaluation: Experiment with emerging tools and technologies, evaluate new solutions, and provide expert guidance on optimal approaches based on specific use case requirements.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in Data Engineering, with a strong focus on building and maintaining enterprise-level data solutions.
- Technical Proficiency in SQL: Extensive experience (5+ years) writing, optimizing, and debugging complex SQL queries across multiple database platforms.
- Programming Expertise: Advanced proficiency (5+ years) in Python programming with demonstrated ability to build production-grade data pipelines and automation systems.
- Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience is preferred, though AWS or Microsoft Azure experience is also highly valued.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional critical thinking abilities with a demonstrated capacity to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, and document work thoroughly.
