What You'll Do at arenaflex
As a Senior Analytics Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be at the forefront of our data engineering initiatives, working alongside talented professionals to solve complex healthcare data challenges. Your responsibilities will span the full data lifecycle—from acquisition and transformation to analysis and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data & Insight Delivery: Direct the execution of critical data and insights initiatives and projects for arenaflex Health, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality analytical outputs that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Data Infrastructure Management: Support long-term and ad-hoc data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and data warehousing activities to meet arenaflex Health's reporting and analysis requirements. Design and maintain robust data pipelines that ensure data integrity and accessibility.
- Database & Pipeline Development: Plan, develop, and deploy multi-layered databases and data pipelines to support reporting and analysis projects. Create efficient, scalable data structures that enable fast and accurate reporting.
- Data Modeling: Develop data preparation and preprocessing standards for populating logical and physical data models tied to report-specific working tables. Build both enterprise business intelligence and predefined reporting solutions that meet diverse stakeholder needs.
- Integration Excellence: Apply industry-leading data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal arenaflex production system sources and third-party files. Ensure seamless data flow across all platforms.
- Data Profiling & Analysis: Perform comprehensive data profiling and analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare datasets including member eligibility, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set Electronic Clinical Data Systems) records.
- Automation & Tooling: Create internal tools for the automation of all development-related activities including data processing, quality assurance, data validation, and deployment processes. Drive efficiency through innovative automation solutions.
- Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership and present tool-agnostic semantic data layer enhancements related to business intelligence technology platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong foundation in data engineering with hands-on experience in healthcare analytics. We're seeking candidates who combine technical excellence with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
- SQL Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) scripts. You should be comfortable working with complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
- Cloud Data Platform Experience: Experience designing and deploying logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake. Familiarity with modern data architecture patterns is essential.
- BI Platform Knowledge: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms like PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, internal partners, clients, and vendor partners.
- Business Acumen: Minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. Understanding of how data drives business value is crucial.
- Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (both within state and out of state).
