Position Overview
The Data Researcher - Decision Science & Analytics role is designed for individuals who are passionate about using quantitative methods to solve real-world business challenges. You will leverage your expertise in operations research, statistical analysis, machine learning, product management, data engineering, and programming to develop and deploy solutions that drive strategic decision-making.
Working closely with cross-functional teams within the Pricing and Revenue Management division, you will tackle complex business problems, conduct rigorous research, and implement solutions ranging from process automation to uncovering transformative insights hidden within our data. Your work will focus on continuously improving our systems, processes, tools, and team capabilities while contributing to the professional growth of your colleagues.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Data Researcher at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our organization approaches pricing strategy and revenue optimization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, implementing, and delivering advanced quantitative analyses and models using operations research, statistical methods, machine learning, product management, and programming skills to drive decision-making and operational excellence, either for use by professionals or within automated systems.
- Applying data engineering and programming expertise to clean and transform data, create robust data streams and pipelines for model execution, and deploy solutions to production environments for real-time business impact.
- Collaborating with partner teams including pricing, yield management, and ancillary revenue teams to develop a deeper understanding of business challenges, optimize existing production models, and create innovative automated solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Presenting analysis and modeling results to stakeholders and senior leadership, effectively translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Working primarily in Python, SQL, or other coding languages to build scalable analytics solutions and data pipelines that support ongoing business operations.
- Developing and testing hypotheses to understand what insights can and cannot be generalized from analytical results, ensuring the robustness and reliability of our analytical approaches.
- Mentoring and collaborating with team members to foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
- Establishing and maintaining code standards, participating in code reviews, and documenting workflows, models, and codebase to ensure knowledge retention and team efficiency.
- Supporting reporting activities as needed to ensure stakeholders have access to timely, accurate performance metrics and insights.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is required. An advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or other mathematically intensive programs is strongly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated professional experience with SQL, Python, R, or other coding languages is required. You should have hands-on experience with statistical analysis tools and techniques.
- Professional Experience: 0-2 years of relevant professional experience is preferred. However, we welcome candidates with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated technical capabilities who are eager to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
- Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Experience in airline pricing, yield or revenue management, revenue analysis, revenue systems, or a similar role in the travel, transportation, or hospitality industries is a plus but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

Location and Work Arrangements
This position can be based at our headquarters in Denver, CO, or anywhere in the United States through our remote work program. If you choose to work remotely, you must be able to adhere to our remote work policies, including having the skill and comfort level to work from home with access to a high-speed internet connection. Occasional travel to our Denver office or other arenaflex locations may be required for team meetings, training, and collaboration sessions.
