In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and operation of our Data Science Platform and the models that run on it. You will lead and inspire a team of talented engineers, ensuring the delivery of robust, reliable, and high-performance software solutions. Your technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking will be instrumental in shaping the future of our data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

As a Tech Lead Software Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in driving our data science initiatives forward. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Technical Leadership: Provide accurate development estimates to support feasibility assessments and planned development activities. Create, maintain, review, and approve application designs in collaboration with Solution Architects and shared services teams, ensuring alignment with appropriate architectural patterns while considering trade-offs.
  • Software Development: Develop, maintain, and review software with a focus on quality and effectiveness. Create, maintain, review, and implement unit, functional, and integration tests with an emphasis on automation and test-driven development.
  • Performance and Testing: Provide technical oversight for performance testing, ensuring design and results align with expected non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and responsiveness.
  • Deployment and Operations: Plan and administer application deployment activities and sequencing in non-production and production environments, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Innovation and Research: Explore new technologies that could improve applications and development activities, evaluating emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance our engineering practices.
  • Technical Debt Management: Identify and resolve technical debt as appropriate, weighing the development effort against the value returned to the organization.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Guide and mentor the Development Team on relevant engineering, design, development, and operations topics, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Code Quality: Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders and other partners to ensure software meets functional and non-functional expectations, serving as an interface between the Development Team and Management.
  • Project Coordination: Ensure capacity and skill sets are aligned to meet ongoing delivery expectations, with time allocated across Project Leadership, Technical Leadership/Coaching, and Software Development/System Engineering.
  • Additional Duties: May perform other work responsibilities as directed by the employee's supervisors, contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess:


  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of software development frameworks, practices, concepts, and technologies.
  • Programming Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language and broad familiarity with at least one additional programming language.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of project management methodologies and principles.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset to stay ahead of issues before they escalate.
