The Opportunity: Senior Data Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic Technology team. This is a exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of big data, cloud computing, and business innovation. As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing robust data infrastructure that powers critical business decisions, drives operational efficiency, and enables groundbreaking analytics capabilities across the organization.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our data engineering practice, responsible for building and maintaining the foundations that enable data-driven decision-making at scale. Your responsibilities will include:
- Architect Data Solutions: Design and implement scalable data processing capabilities in close collaboration with product owners, data analysts, and business partners using Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver value iteratively and efficiently.
- Establish Standards and Frameworks: Contribute to the development of enterprise-wide architecture, frameworks, and standards for processing and storing massive data volumes, ensuring consistency, reliability, and performance across all data initiatives.
- Build Distributed Processing Pipelines: Design and implement distributed data processing pipelines using industry-standard tools and languages within Hadoop and Cloud ecosystems, handling petabytes of data with grace and efficiency.
- Develop Utilities and Functions: Construct utilities, user-defined functions, and reusable frameworks that enable streamlined data flow patterns, reducing redundancy and accelerating development cycles.
- Orchestrate Workflows: Build and enhance process orchestration and scheduling systems to automate data workflows, ensuring timely processing and availability of critical data assets.
- Evaluate Emerging Technologies: Research, evaluate, and leverage new technologies, tools, and frameworks focused on high-volume data processing, staying at the cutting edge of industry innovations and bringing best practices into the organization.
- Define Data Strategies: Define and implement appropriate data acquisition and intake techniques for various technical scenarios, balancing performance, cost, and business requirements.
- Ensure Quality Through Testing: Build and incorporate automated unit tests and participate in integration testing efforts to ensure data quality, reliability, and robustness of all deliverables.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with architecture and engineering leads and other teams to ensure high-quality solutions are implemented, and engineering best practices are defined and adhered to throughout the organization.
- Optimize Performance: Work across teams to diagnose and resolve operational and performance issues, ensuring systems meet SLA commitments and deliver exceptional user experiences.
What We're Looking For: Qualifications
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- A Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electronics and Communications, or a related Technology field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in data engineering or a closely related occupation, demonstrating progressive responsibility and technical depth.
Required Technical Skills and Experience
Your technical background must include hands-on expertise with:
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python, Java, and Scala – must be able to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for data processing applications.
- Big Data Frameworks: Extensive experience with Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Databricks for processing and analyzing large-scale datasets.
- ETL Tools: Hands-on experience with Informatica and PLSQL for designing and implementing data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
