About the Role: Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Technician

As a Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Technician at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our extensive vehicle fleet. Our fleet includes a diverse range of equipment, from delivery vehicles and light-duty trucks to heavy-duty on-road tractors and trailers. Our vehicles are powered by a range of propulsion technologies, including traditional diesel and gasoline engines, as well as alternative fuel systems such as compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), propane, hybrid powertrains, and electric vehicles in select locations. You'll be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and maintaining various vehicle systems, including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine control modules. Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of the arenaflex fleet maintenance team, your responsibilities will include:


  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on a diverse fleet of delivery vehicles, tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. This includes engine diagnostics, brake system repairs, electrical system troubleshooting, and drivetrain maintenance.
  • Diagnostic Expertise: Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers to identify mechanical issues, interpret diagnostic codes, and determine the most effective repair strategies.
  • System-Specific Maintenance: Maintain and repair hydraulic brake systems, air brake systems, electrical wiring and control systems, and engine management systems across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Alternative Fuel Vehicle Support: Work on vehicles equipped with alternative propulsion systems, including compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electric powertrains, following manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
  • Compliance and Safety: Meet all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) requirements as needed for specific job assignments. Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet regulatory standards and company safety policies.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate both standard and automatic transmission vehicles as needed for testing and validation purposes. Safely operate power tools, pneumatic tools, and industrial truck equipment to support maintenance operations.
  • Industrial Truck Certification: Meet all requirements to become certified in Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) as needed for the position.
  • Physical Requirements: Perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, standing, walking, and pivoting throughout the workday. Occasionally sit as required for documentation and diagnostics work.
  • Hand Tool Proficiency: Utilize proper hand tools for grasping, manipulation, and precise work, reaching from floor level to above shoulder height as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for specific repair tasks and work environments.
  • Environmental Adaptability: Work effectively in environments with variable temperatures and humidity levels, exposure to cleaning chemicals, petroleum products, dust, noise, and outdoor inclement weather conditions.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work cooperatively in a diverse team environment and communicate effectively through sight, hearing, and other means to perform assigned duties and maintain proper job safety protocols.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:


  • Automotive Mechanical Experience: Current, documented experience in automotive mechanical repair and maintenance. Candidates should have a solid foundation in vehicle systems and a proven track record of quality workmanship.
  • Diagnostic Equipment Proficiency: Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers for vehicle troubleshooting and repair. Familiarity with industry-standard diagnostic software and tools is essential.
  • Personal Tool Inventory: Possess a complete supplement of personal hand tools required to perform job tasks effectively. Technicians are expected to maintain their tool collection in good working condition.
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Available to work full-time shifts of 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per week. Must be willing to work second shift, third shift, or alternative schedules including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Saturday, depending on location needs.
  • Reliability and Punctuality: Demonstrated reliability with the ability to report to work on a consistent and timely basis. Must be able to complete scheduled workdays regularly and maintain excellent attendance.
  • Availability for Overtime: Willingness to work varying shifts, additional hours, and overtime as needed to meet service demands and operational requirements.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, and handling tools and vehicle components throughout the workday.
  • Authorization to Work: Must be a U.S. Citizen or national of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will strengthen your application:


  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Class A or Class B CDL is preferred but not required. Candidates with a CDL may have additional opportunities for career advancement within the organization.
  • ASE Certification: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in relevant areas such as brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, or suspension and steering.
  • Alternative Fuel Experience: Prior experience working on alternative fuel vehicles, including CNG, LNG, propane, hybrid, or electric vehicles.
  • Heavy-Duty Vehicle Experience: Experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty commercial vehicles, tractors, or trailers.
  • Technical Education: Completion of a technical training program or apprenticeship in automotive technology, diesel technology, or related field.
