We're seeking an experienced Senior Customer Engineer to join our team, responsible for developing and nurturing new composite materials and manufacturing technologies aligned to market and customer needs. As a key member of our team, you'll lead concept development activities, be the principal technical interface with our customers, and provide advice on materials and process selections for new composite material applications.

  • *Key Responsibilities**

As a Senior Customer Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and nurturing new composite materials and manufacturing technologies aligned to market and customer needs
  • Leading concept development activities for new opportunities, coupling material, process, and part design
  • Being the principal technical interface with our customers and the voice of the customer for arenaflex's internal functions
  • Assessing technology gaps and providing advice for future product and process development
  • Promoting arenaflex products and technologies and articulating value propositions to our customers
  • Advising on materials and process selections for new composite material applications
  • Leading and supporting projects requiring material manufacturing, prototyping, and part builds, including thermoset prepregs, thermoplastics, adhesives, primers, and surfacing films with processes including autoclave, out-of-autoclave, press-molding, resin infusion
  • Providing field technical support to major aerospace OEM and subcontractors for new and legacy programs
  • Identifying and leading resolution of material issues in aerospace composite shops, acting as the "Voice of the Customer" to liaise with the greater part of arenaflex to affect a mutually acceptable resolution
  • Advising customers on processing and properties of arenaflex products, supporting trade studies, and providing recommendations on product options and selection based on customer parts & applications
  • Leading and supporting research and development activities that aim at achieving technical and business objectives
  • Supporting simulation analysis and development for composite part manufacturing and structural performance
  • Identifying potential new applications for arenaflex products and supporting Account Managers in capturing new business, assessing market trends, developing business cases, and evaluating competitor's materials
  • Accompanying customers as needed on arenaflex site audits and visits, leading where required
  • Supporting and/or leading targeted projects in arenaflex or customer shops, areas include product configuration, capability, cost reductions, problem solving, Lean manufacturing, etc.
  • Supporting characterization and reducibility studies of new material developments
  • Comprehending business line strategies to establish objectives and customer touch points at assigned accounts
  • Supporting coordination of conformance and specification issues between arenaflex plants and Key Customer Procurement and Specification Custodians
  • Providing support for customers outside the targeted region as appropriate
  • Becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on one or more aspects of composite parts
  • *Essential Qualifications**
  • Bachelor's degree minimum (in relevant Engineering or Material Science discipline)
  • Master's or PhD degree is a plus
  • Knowledge of aerospace composite part fabrication
  • Experience resolving product and process capability issues in composite part Applications
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated work experience in composites, including problem solving, technical presentations, project management, relationship building, and identification of new opportunities
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience reviewing composite part designs/drawings for manufacturability and specification compliance
  • Understanding of the aerospace industry, including OEMs, their suppliers, various programs, aerospace quality systems, composite testing requirements, statistical process control, and capability, etc.
  • *Preferred Qualifications**
  • Experience working with composite materials, including thermoset prepregs, thermoplastics, adhesives, primers, and surfacing films
  • Familiarity with processes including autoclave, out-of-autoclave, press-molding, resin infusion
  • Experience with simulation analysis and development for composite part manufacturing and structural performance
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices
  • Experience with business development, including market research, competitor analysis, and business case development

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, with occasional overnight stays

  • *Compensation, Perks, and Benefits**

arenaflex offers a competitive compensation package, including:

  • U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $90,880 to $113,600 per year
  • Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations
