What You'll Do
As a Senior Analyst, Specialty Compliance & Ethics – Direct Imports, you will play a critical role in supporting our Direct Imports Group, ensuring that all products imported into the United States meet rigorous compliance standards. You will serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. Import regulations, documentation requirements, and customs protocols. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Compliance and Ethics, and offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to one of the most sophisticated global supply chains in the world.
Your daily responsibilities will encompass a wide range of compliance and regulatory functions, including:
- Ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies: You will be responsible for verifying that all Direct Import items entering the United States comply with federal regulations by assigning appropriate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and calculating accurate duty percentages.
- Documentation management and verification: You will identify and compile all required documentation to guarantee that every item is legally permissible for import into the United States, maintaining meticulous records for audit and regulatory purposes.
- International customs and regulatory adherence: You will ensure full compliance with global customs regulations and administrative authorities across all international sourcing regions.
- Policy development and implementation: You will create, execute, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures to ensure proper application to affected items and purchase orders.
- Regulatory research and advisory: You will research proposed regulatory rules and existing guidelines to serve as the subject matter expert to the business, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Vendor and sourcing guidance: You will provide strategic guidance to vendors and international sourcing teams to support accurate costing decisions and ensure compliance with trade regulations.
- Collaboration and continuous improvement: You will work closely with senior leadership to identify compliance and ethics gaps, proposing and developing innovative improvements to strengthen our global trade compliance program.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis and data entry, with a demonstrated track record of high project completion rates.
- Technical proficiency: At least 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office products, with advanced proficiency in Excel being essential.
- Industry expertise: A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in import operations and international trade compliance.
- Technical knowledge: Familiarity with Harmonized Tariff Code classification is strongly preferred.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree is required for this position.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
While the following qualifications are not mandatory, they will significantly enhance your candidacy and contribute to your success in this role:
- Prior experience in project management or program coordination within a multinational corporation.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, including CTPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems and trade compliance software platforms.
- Knowledge of free trade agreements and preferential trade programs.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or similar professional certification is a plus.
