Position Overview

As a Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately entering patient information and processing prescription data in compliance with state and federal guidelines. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong keyboarding abilities, and the capacity to handle high-volume requests while maintaining exceptional accuracy. You will serve as a crucial link between patients, pharmacists, prescribers, and insurance providers, ensuring seamless service delivery and positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist will include but are not limited to:


  • Patient Enrollment Data Entry: Utilizing arenaflex's prescription data entry techniques and guidelines, you will process new patient enrollments by accurately entering information into our sophisticated pharmacy management systems. Precision is paramount to ensure patient safety and effective medication management.
  • Prescription Processing: You will handle patient medication requests within strict HIPAA guidelines, entering refill orders for processing. This includes investigating to obtain missing prescription information and interpreting clinical abbreviations (SIG codes) to ensure accurate medication dispensing.
  • Exception Resolution: You will resolve all data entry-related exceptions, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions to maintain data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Patient Communication: Manage correspondence with patients through inbound calls, chats, and emails. You will also make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as needed to gather information or follow up on pending requests.
  • Third-Party Issue Resolution: Investigate, collect information, make necessary corrections, and resubmit claims for processing according to individual plan requirements. You will also make phone calls to insurers and other parties to obtain information, gain override approval, or otherwise resolve third-party issues efficiently.
  • Pharmacist Support: Provide assistance to pharmacists both in the office and in other locations, serving as a reliable resource for information and problem-solving. Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Perform all duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with state and government guidelines. Ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
  • License Maintenance: Must acquire an active pharmacy technician license or certification within the first 90 days of employment and maintain an active license or certification throughout employment.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following requirements:


  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Computer Skills: Basic-level computer proficiency, including the ability to start up and shut down computers, use the mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print reports, and access information online.
  • Web Navigation: Basic web browser skills, including opening a browser, typing URLs correctly, using search engines, bookmarking websites, navigating back/forward/stop buttons, and completing online forms.
  • Keyboarding Skills: Intermediate-level keyboarding abilities with a minimum typing speed of 25 WPM, typing by memory, and organizing documents efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:


  • At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or call center environment.
  • One and a half years of experience as a pharmacy technician with certification/registration granted by the state Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification organization.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Mid to advanced-level keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 35 WPM, typing by memory, and formatting documents professionally.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly preferred, as it will enable you to serve a broader patient population.
