The Opportunity: Remote Customer Service Specialist

We're currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Customer Service Specialist to join our remote team, serving patients and healthcare facilities with excellence. This position is based in the Cincinnati, OH area but operates fully remotely, offering you the flexibility to work from the comfort of your home while still being an integral part of our collaborative team.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive customer service and collection duties within the Revenue Cycle, leveraging your knowledge of all areas of Patient Financial Services. Your work will directly impact patients' financial experiences during what can often be a stressful time in their healthcare journey.

What You'll Do

As a Customer Service Specialist at arenaflex, you will:


  • Address Patient Inquiries: Professionally and empathetically answer patient questions regarding their medical bills and statements, providing clear explanations and guidance

  • Process Payments: Accurately post guarantor payments and manage various payment transactions with precision and attention to detail

  • Payment Solutions: Set up flexible payment plans within established policies, helping patients find manageable solutions for their healthcare expenses

  • Issue Resolution: Research and resolve complex issues with patient accounts that have been identified through patient communications, ensuring accurate account status

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Reach out to appropriate internal departments to efficiently resolve any requests made by patients, serving as their advocate within our organization

  • Financial Counseling: Connect patients with our financial counseling department for charity screening and assistance programs they may qualify for

  • Balance Communication: Effectively communicate patient balances in a compassionate, clear manner that promotes understanding and cooperation

  • Goal Achievement: Meet or exceed collection goals as set by the department, contributing to our overall financial performance and sustainability

  • Customer Excellence: Provide exceptional customer service for all patients, maintaining our reputation for compassionate, patient-centered interactions

  • Revenue Cycle Expertise: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all areas of the Revenue Cycle to effectively address diverse patient needs

  • Team Partnership: Communicate and collaborate with other areas of arenaflex and Revenue Cycle to resolve customer service issues efficiently

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications


  • Experience: 1-2 years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry, with exposure to revenue cycle operations

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in healthcare administration, business, or related field is a plus

  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex patient accounts and billing scenarios

  • Problem Resolution: Demonstrated ability to resolve patient concerns effectively and professionally

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically

  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable learning and navigating multiple software systems and platforms

  • Remote Work Readiness: Self-motivated, disciplined, and equipped with a reliable home office setup including stable internet connection

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in physician and hospital operations, providing understanding of clinical workflows

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and provider relations in healthcare settings

  • Prior customer service and call center experience, preferably in a healthcare or financial services environment

  • Familiarity with medical billing codes, insurance processes, and patient financial responsibility

  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and practice management software

  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) is a significant advantage in serving diverse patient populations

Certification Requirements

As part of your professional development journey at arenaflex, all new Customer Service Specialists are required to obtain the Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification within 9 months of hire. Don't worry—we've got you covered! This certification is employer-funded, meaning arenaflex will cover the costs associated with your training and certification.
