About the Position
We are seeking a Texas-licensed attorney to join our team on a 1099 contract basis, with a primary focus on our Austin Area market. This role is primarily remote, though some in-person appearances for court hearings and client meetings will be required.
- Responsibilities
- Handle firm-assigned matters in business, real estate, probate, and litigation (no prior experience required, but helpful).
- Attorney should expect to handle a mix of transactional and litigation matters. Most contract attorneys that work 20-30 hours a week for the firm are responsible for about 10 litigation matters and 10 transactional matters at any given time.
- Collaborate with support and the supervising attorney to efficiently manage workload.
- Compensation Structure
- Paid biweekly at 1/3 of collected billables (example: $400/hr billing rate = $133/hr to contractor).
- Workload: 20–30 hours/week with firm-generated work and flat-fee matters (e.g., deeds at $500 per file).

- Ideal Candidate
- Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop litigation skills.
- Comfortable working in a virtual, tech-driven environment.
- For conflicts checks purposes, the position is not ideal for lawyers already doing contract work for several firms or already has a robust practice in the same practice areas as our firm.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and time management.
