Position Overview

Are you ready to take your DevOps career to the next level? arenaflex is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Principal DevOps Engineer to lead our organizational transformation in DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. This is a senior individual contributor role that offers the opportunity to shape the future of our technical infrastructure and drive enterprise-wide adoption of best practices in cloud computing, automation, and continuous delivery.

As the Principal DevOps Engineer at arenaflex, you will serve as a technical expert and thought leader, responsible for designing and implementing DevOps strategies that enhance our ability to deliver software rapidly, reliably, and securely. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including software developers, security professionals, and operations staff to ensure that our infrastructure is scalable, available, secure, and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for:


  • Leading DevOps Strategy Development: Define and execute comprehensive DevOps strategies covering the design, development, and implementation of tools, practices, and cultural transformation initiatives across the organization.
  • Establishing Best Practices: Develop and enforce DevOps best practices including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment strategies to ensure consistent, high-quality software deliveries.
  • Infrastructure as Code Implementation: Design and manage infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar platforms to provision and manage resources efficiently across cloud environments.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or equivalent solutions to ensure rapid and reliable application deployment.
  • Security and Compliance Collaboration: Work closely with security and compliance teams to ensure that all teams adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and processes, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance release consistency and accuracy.
  • Technology Research and Recommendations: Stay current with emerging data technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption within the organization's DevOps ecosystem.
  • Team Mentorship: Coach and provide technical guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Cloud Platform Expertise: Demonstrated experience working with public cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience with GCP is preferred.
  • Containerization Technologies: Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for application packaging and orchestration.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools including Terraform and Ansible for automating resource provisioning and deployment.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Experience: Active involvement in CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI, along with experience using version control systems like Git.
  • Programming Skills: Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or similar programming languages.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex DevOps platform issues and provide practical, effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:


  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or Cloud Logging Solutions to ensure application performance and system health.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and coaching junior engineers to help them grow in their careers.
  • Experience working in healthcare or regulated industries with compliance requirements such as HIPAA.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, DevOps, or infrastructure automation.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $20 - $30 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is a full-time role with standard work hours of 8 hours per day. In addition to your base compensation, you will have access to our comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth within the organization.
