Position Overview

As a Network Engineer – Data Center Infrastructure Specialist at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our organization's network infrastructure. You will work collaboratively with various teams and leaders throughout the organization to plan and maintain network equipment and software, document and manage the installation of new networks, ensure network integrity, investigate and resolve any network issues, and maintain and upgrade existing systems as required.

Key Responsibilities

As a Network Engineer – Data Center Infrastructure Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Network Design and Implementation: Plan and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks. You'll be responsible for creating scalable network architectures that support our business objectives and ensure high availability and performance.
• Hardware Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and support network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other networking equipment. You'll ensure all installations meet our standards for performance, security, and reliability.
• Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Obtain network hardware and manage subcontractors associated with network installation. You'll work with external vendors to procure equipment and coordinate installation activities while ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures.
• Routing and Switching Optimization: Design routing and switching configurations to maximize network efficiency and security. You'll implement best practices for network segmentation, VLANs, and traffic management to optimize performance.
• Infrastructure Improvements: Recommend changes to improve network designs and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes. You'll conduct feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for network enhancements.
• Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff members. You'll mentor and coach others to perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, solution development, and implementation within specific technology areas.
• Technical Assistance: Give technical direction or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and ensure smooth operations.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures. You'll create and update network diagrams, configuration guides, and operational runbooks.
• Additional Duties: May perform other work responsibilities as directed by the employee's Supervisors. We value flexibility and teamwork, and you may be asked to take on additional responsibilities as our needs evolve.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of hardware components, systems, software, and networking technologies. You should be familiar with network protocols, OSI model, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other foundational networking concepts.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze and resolve issues effectively. You must be able to diagnose complex network problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions under pressure.
• Communication Skills: Ability to develop, present, and effectively communicate complex ideas and processes in both technical and user-friendly language to various audiences. You must be comfortable presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentoring Abilities: Ability to mentor/guide others to perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, solution development, and implementation within specific technology areas. Experience leading and developing junior team members is highly valued.
• Collaboration Skills: Skilled in collaborating, negotiating, and communicating to facilitate Business Clients and Technology support. You must be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Time Management: Ability to prioritize effectively and handle multiple concurrent tasks, whether administrative or project-related, while maintaining an efficient level of completion in all self-work as well as the work of others.
• Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer Service oriented environment with a high regard for hospitality. You must be comfortable adapting to changing priorities and tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would give you an edge:

• Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or equivalent


• Experience with data center networking technologies, including virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and software-defined networking (SDN)


• Knowledge of network security best practices and firewall technologies


• Experience with network monitoring and management tools


• Background in the transportation, logistics, or airline industry


• Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment


• Knowledge of ITIL framework and IT service management practices
