Manager of Student Finance

The Manager of Student Finance is responsible for a portion of the overall operation and administration of financial aid programs within a sub-group of various institutions within PEC. A student centered, customer service approach is necessary for follow-up phone contact with students, requiring advanced understanding of the financial aid process. Strong performance management capabilities are required. This position requires an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational and operational background and able to effectively manage change while working within a highly-regulated industry. This position demands a tireless focus on talent development for direct reports and staff level positions.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage a team of employees to support institutional population goals by ensuring students complete the financial aid process in a timely manner.

  • Provide regular coaching and feedback by delivering quarterly employee scorecards and performance appraisal reviews.

  • Monitor staffing levels and phone systems to ensure acceptable service levels are maintained.

  • Complete file review to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Run reports to monitor and coordinate staffing needs and workflow.

  • Participate in interview and evaluation process on employees and external candidates.

  • Facilitate and create training for new and current employees.

  • Evaluate performance and coach employees while mentoring them to achieve high performance.

  • Facilitate weekly team meetings to inform staff about new issues and discuss any initiatives updates within regulatory area.

  • Communicate with key stakeholders within the University and Student Aid Solutions to ensure compliance across all departments with respect to federal and state regulations.

  • Develop and establish a motivational environment through team building to provide the highest level of service to all customers, both internal and external.

  • Increase and maintain high level of customer service to students and external and internal departments

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Experience



  • 2 years of student finance experience or other related work

  • 1 year as Lead financial aid advisor or management role

  • High School diploma or its equivalent required

  • 4 years of student finance experience - Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent) - Preferred

  • Experience working with students in an Online environment - Preferred
