What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacist II at arenaflex, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical pharmacy services with a focus on psychotropic medication management. - Clinical Services Oversight: Oversee and manage all clinical services related to psychotropic medications, ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical care are maintained across all patient interactions.
- Prescriber Consultation: Provide expert consultations and evidence-based recommendations to prescribers regarding psychotropic medication therapy, dosing, interactions, and alternative treatment options.
- Plan Benefit Design: Contribute your clinical expertise to plan benefit design initiatives, helping to develop comprehensive pharmacy benefit strategies that balance cost-effectiveness with optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Formulary Management: Support formulary development and management activities, including prior authorization (PA) processes, drug utilization review, and therapeutic class management.
- Drug Information Support: Provide authoritative clinical pharmacy and drug product information to support plan benefit design decisions and healthcare provider inquiries.
- Contract Commitment: Demonstrate 100% dedication to contract requirements and deliverables, ensuring all professional obligations are met with the highest level of excellence.
- Facility Presence: Be located at the contractor's local facility to maintain seamless integration with healthcare teams and ensure timely availability for clinical consultations.
What You'll Bring: Qualifications & Requirements
We are seeking a highly qualified pharmaceutical professional who brings both clinical expertise and specialized knowledge in psychiatric pharmacy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in clinical pharmacy settings with specific experience in psychotropic medication management.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
- Licensure: Current active Pharmacist license in the state of Maryland. If not currently licensed in Maryland, candidate must obtain licensure within six (6) months of system implementation.
- Board Certification: Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP) certification is required for this position. This specialized credential demonstrates your advanced expertise in psychiatric pharmacy practice.
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience supporting formulary management, prior authorization (PA) processes, benefits design, and clinical information services.
- Specialized Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of clinical pharmacy principles and drug product information, with the ability to apply this expertise to support plan benefit design initiatives.
- Psychotropic Training: Specialized training in psychotropic medications, including current knowledge of pharmacological treatments for psychiatric disorders, drug interactions, and therapeutic monitoring guidelines.

- DUR Experience: Previous experience in both Prospective Drug Utilization Review (PRO-DUR) and Retrospective Drug Utilization Review (RETRO-DUR) programs.

- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems, electronic health records (EHR), and clinical decision support tools.
