What You'll Do

As a Specialty Pharmacy Customer Service Representative at arenaflex, you will be the primary point of contact for patients receiving life-sustaining specialty drug treatments. Your role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive their medications on time, understand their treatment plans, and have a positive experience throughout their care journey.

Key Responsibilities


  • Patient Order Coordination: Manage the complete lifecycle of new patient drug requests and prescription refills, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.

  • Benefits Verification: Check and update patient insurance benefits, verifying coverage details and explaining pharmacy benefits to ensure patients understand their financial responsibilities.

  • Prescription Processing: Interpret and accurately enter new prescriptions and refills into the pharmacy information system, maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

  • Copay Management: Collect and process copayment amounts from patients, explaining cost considerations and helping navigate financial assistance programs when available.

  • Authorization Processing: Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies and healthcare providers, working diligently to minimize delays in medication delivery.

  • Insurance Collaboration: Work directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and internal teams to monitor, identify, resolve, and approve orders that may have billing or clinical issues.

  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve complex patient concerns with empathy and efficiency, ensuring that all issues are handled to the patient's satisfaction.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that financial and clinical expectations are met before order fulfillment, maintaining our high standards of care.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications


  • Minimum one year of experience in a customer service role, specifically handling and resolving a high volume of complex customer needs via telephone.

  • Minimum one year of work experience with Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, web navigation, and email applications.

  • Minimum one year of computer keyboarding experience with demonstrated proficiency and accuracy.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare providers.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Six months or more of experience resolving high volumes of complex customer needs via telephone in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.

  • Previous experience with insurance benefits, prescription processing, and medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy operations or mail-order pharmacy services.

  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.

  • Experience with pharmacy management systems or similar databases.
