The arenaflex Security Response Center (ASRC) team is seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to meet the growing demands and challenges of cybersecurity and threat protection. As a Data Scientist on our team, you will collaborate with our experts, other data scientists, and researchers to investigate, design, build, and deploy statistical, AI, and machine learning models to protect the arenaflex Cloud against known and emerging cyberattacks.

What You'll Do

As a Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our digital ecosystem. Here's what your role entails:

Build Security Models: Create statistical, machine learning, and AI-based security models for cybersecurity and intrusion detection that are scalable, achievable, and meet business objectives.

Data Analysis & Insight Generation: Analyze complex datasets to identify patterns and factors that influence outcomes on specific products. Understand the essential goals of the team from a business perspective.

Project Planning: Develop project plans to resolve critical steps required for completion. Evaluate current situations for resources, risks, possibilities, requirements, assumptions, and constraints.

Mentorship: Mentor less experienced engineers in standards and best practices. Understand organizational dynamics, interrelationships among teams, design requirements, and resource constraints to effectively influence partners.

Data Preparation: Secure and prepare datasets for modeling purposes while ensuring data integrity and privacy compliance.

Model Development: Apply knowledge of machine learning solutions (such as classification, regression, clustering, forecasting, NLP, image recognition) and algorithms (including linear and logistic regression, k-means, gradient boosting, ARIMA, RNN, LSTM networks) to identify the best approach to achieve objectives.

Statistical Analysis: Develop hypotheses, design controlled experiments, analyze results using statistical tests, and communicate findings to business partners effectively.

Code Development: Write scripts in appropriate languages including T-SQL, U-SQL, KQL, Python, R, and others as needed.

Communication: Communicate effectively with diverse audiences on data quality issues and drive improvements. Understand operational considerations of model deployment such as performance, scalability, monitoring, support, and integration.

Tool Utilization: Develop an understanding of the arenaflex toolset in AI and ML (such as Azure AI, Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Databricks). Translate complex statistics and machine learning topics into understandable concepts for stakeholders.

Collaboration: Work with security threat experts to understand cyberattack tactics and build accessible security models for the team.

Business Alignment: Understand the relationship between selected models and business goals. Ensure clear linkage between models and desired business outcomes. Evaluate how well models meet business objectives.

Thought Leadership: Use business data and technical expertise to provide feedback for engineering teams to identify potential future business opportunities. Share knowledge through conferences, white papers, blog posts, and other publications.

Continuous Learning: Research and maintain deep knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and advances. Contribute to the body of thought leadership and intellectual property best practices.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

Education: Master's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field AND 2+ years of data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical methods and reporting results).

Alternative Education: Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field AND 2+ years of data science experience.

Alternative Experience: Comparable experience in lieu of formal education.

Programming Skills: 2+ years of programming experience in Python OR Scala.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop Ecosystem, Apache Spark, and distributed computing frameworks.

Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices, Docker, and containerization.

Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning, MLflow, Delta Lake, and cloud-based ML platforms.

Experience with REST API usage and development.

Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and threat intelligence.

Strong background in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.

Experience with time series analysis and forecasting methods.

Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning architectures.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
