Purpose of the Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Denial Management, Pre-Registration, Authorization, and Patient Financial Communication and Collections (PFCC) Specialist to join our dynamic medical billing team. This pivotal role is responsible for providing comprehensive support within our medical billing department, working across all major medical payers to manage end-to-end Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) for collecting pending payments.
This position is 100% work from home, offering you the flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home while contributing to meaningful healthcare outcomes. You will be responsible for collecting and managing accounts, following up with insurance companies, reconciling accounts, filing corrected claims, appealing claims when appropriate, and following up on all denials to ensure reprocessing and payment in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Billing Customer Experience Trainer and Quality Assurance Specialist at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality standards across our medical billing operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Quality Monitoring: Monitor the quality of transactions at regular frequencies to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal performance across all billing activities.
- Quality Control Development: Develop, oversee, and implement robust quality control measures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Training Curriculum Delivery: Own the delivery of structured curriculum provided in live and virtual learning environments to groups and individuals, ensuring comprehensive understanding of medical billing processes.
- One-on-One Coaching: Coach team members one-on-one for ongoing performance improvements through refresher training, remediation sessions, and personalized development plans.
- Process Documentation: Maintain detailed knowledge of process and role-specific job aids to support effective application of curriculum and ensure consistent performance.
- Performance Assessment: Assess new hires' performance by monitoring, evaluating, and reporting training outcomes to local managers and central leadership teams.
- Performance Issue Resolution: Liaise with supervisors and leaders to identify performance issues where additional one-on-one support is required, developing targeted interventions.
- Training Content Improvement: Deliver and support the ongoing improvement of training content and programs based on implementation of new or changes in existing patient care delivery, state/federal regulations, and accreditation/licensing standards.
- Denial Management: Manage denial management processes including identifying root causes, filing appeals, and ensuring timely reprocessing of denied claims.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Handle AR collection activities, following up with insurance companies and patients to maximize revenue recovery.
- Pre-Registration and Authorization: Coordinate pre-registration processes and obtain prior authorizations as required by payers and healthcare providers.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Graduate or undergraduate degree with minimum 3+ years of experience in denial management, AR collection, pre-registration, and authorization for US Healthcare processes.
- Strong knowledge of EPIC software is highly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of Denial Management, Pre-Registration, Authorization, and PFCC (Patient Financial Communication and Collections) processes.
- Thorough understanding of common healthcare industry terminology, practices, and procedures regarding billing and reimbursement.
- General knowledge of how Government and Commercial payers reimburse healthcare services.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in using Windows-based computer systems and common business software found in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to effectively and efficiently perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain a high level of ethics, professionalism, and a courteous demeanor at all times.
- Strong ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Accurate typing and data entry skills at a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications
While the following are not required, they would be considered a significant asset:
- Previous experience in a training or coaching role within healthcare billing.
- Certification in medical billing or coding (CPC, RHIT, RHIA, etc.).
- Experience with other major EHR systems beyond EPIC (e.g., Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts).
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
- Six Sigma or Lean certification for quality improvement initiatives.
