About This Opportunity: Ground Maintenance Technician
We're currently seeking an experienced Ground Maintenance Technician to join our team in Colorado. This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly rate of $35, with opportunities for overtime and career advancement. As a Ground Maintenance Technician at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and upgrading the critical mechanized ground support equipment (GSE) that enables our daily operations to flow seamlessly.
Ground support equipment is the backbone of airport operations—without properly functioning baggage carts, pushback tugs, fuel trucks, stair trucks, and other specialized vehicles, airline operations would come to a standstill. Your work will ensure that this equipment remains safe, reliable, and efficient, directly contributing to on-time departures and arrivals that our passengers trust and expect.
What makes this role particularly exciting is the variety of tasks you'll encounter. No two days will be exactly alike. You'll troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, perform preventive maintenance, collaborate with team members and external vendors, and maintain detailed records of all work performed. Your data entry skills will be essential in documenting every repair, replacement, and inspection—ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining our equipment fleet in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
As a Ground Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will span a wide range of technical and administrative tasks:
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Conduct thorough inspections, servicing, investigation, repair, replacement, and upgrading of various ground support equipment components, including truck chassis, body panels, drive-train systems, and specialized aviation ground support machinery.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Perform comprehensive electrical and hydraulic system troubleshooting and repairs. Diagnose issues with pneumatic systems, interpret schematics and technical diagrams, and implement effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime.
- Fabrication and Restoration: Execute painting, bodywork, and specialized fabrication tasks to restore equipment to manufacturer specifications. Ensure all repairs meet or exceed industry standards for safety and performance.
- Documentation and Data Entry: Complete precise data entry tasks to record all work performed, including parts used, labor hours, diagnostic findings, and maintenance recommendations. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in our computerized maintenance management systems.
- Collaborative Communication: Work effectively with arenaflex staff across departments and coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of parts and completion of specialized repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Practice safety-conscious behaviors in every operational process and procedure. Maintain awareness of environmental regulations and ensure all work is performed in compliance with relevant safety standards.
- Inventory Management: Help maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and supplies. Report any equipment deficiencies or safety concerns immediately to supervisory staff.
Essential Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you'll need to bring a combination of technical skills, physical capabilities, and personal attributes:
- Safety Commitment: A strong, demonstrable commitment to workplace safety—for yourself, your colleagues, and the traveling public. Must be vigilant about securing sensitive information and maintaining data integrity.
- Diversity and Inclusion: The ability to embrace diverse people, thinking styles, and perspectives. We value team members who contribute fresh ideas and approaches to problem-solving.
- Communication Skills: Fluency in English, with the ability to speak, read, write, and understand technical documents, procedures, and instructions clearly and accurately.
- Schedule Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work a variable schedule, including fixed or rotating shifts. Must be adaptable to working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Availability for potential travel, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in a relevant technical field. Previous experience with heavy equipment, automotive, or aviation ground support equipment maintenance is highly desirable.
- Physical Capabilities: The ability to frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects between 50 and 70 pounds. Must be physically capable of standing, bending, reaching, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Technical Assessment: Ability to achieve a satisfactory score on entrance tests designed to assess capability to perform required technical tasks.
- Technical Documentation: Strong ability to read, understand, and apply information found in technical documents, service manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications and experiences will give you a significant competitive advantage:
- Technical Expertise: A detailed understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines. Familiarity with diesel and gasoline engines, transmission systems, and hydraulic lifts.
- Advanced Documentation Skills: Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and applying information from technical documents, service manuals, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
- Communication Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members, coordinate repairs with external vendors, and clearly document work performed.
- Independent Problem-Solving: The capacity to assess customer needs with minimal direction, develop repair strategies, and perform repairs effectively in time-sensitive circumstances.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with FAA regulations, OSHA standards, and industry best practices for aviation ground support equipment maintenance.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in heavy equipment maintenance, welding, or specialized GSE repair are advantageous.
