Position Overview

We are seeking skilled and motivated Data Engineers to join our Dataworks team at all experience levels. As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in designing, building, testing, and maintaining data pipelines that handle massive volumes of information across our global network. You will be responsible for ensuring data quality, optimizing pipeline performance, and supporting the ingestion and transformation of data from multiple sources into our analytical and operational systems.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT professionals, business analysts, software developers, and data scientists, and contribute to solutions that directly impact operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Whether you are an early-career professional looking to grow your skills or an experienced engineer seeking new challenges, arenaflex provides the environment, resources, and mentorship to help you succeed.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for the following core duties:

  • Pipeline Development & Maintenance: Design, build, test, and maintain robust data pipelines at massive scale, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance for batch and streaming data processing.

  • Data Ingestion & Integration: Support the ingestion and integration of data from multiple internal and external sources, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of data flow across the organization.

  • Data Transformation & Processing: Improve batch processing of collected data, transforming and mapping data to ensure it aligns with storage schemas and is ready for analysis and downstream consumption.

  • Optimization & Performance Tuning: Keep the data environment and pipelines optimized and efficient by investigating performance bottlenecks, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing improvements.

  • Technical Support & Issue Resolution: Provide Level 3 support for data-related issues, troubleshooting complex problems, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and data quality issues.

  • Data Processing Logic Implementation: Implement parsers, validators, transformers, and correlators to reformat, update, and enrich data, ensuring it meets business and technical requirements.

  • Problem Solving & Innovation: Provide recommendations for highly complex data engineering challenges, demonstrating innovative thinking and domain expertise.

  • Mentorship & Guidance: Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members, contributing to their professional development and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a "universal translator" between IT, business stakeholders, software developers, and data scientists, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical teams to deliver value.

  • Code Quality & Best Practices: Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to large-scale engineering solutions, adhering to best practices for reusability, maintainability, and scalability.

  • Platform Development: Build tools, platforms, and pipelines that enable teams to analyze data clearly and efficiently, build models, and drive data-informed decisions.

  • Scaling Initiatives: Scale solutions from "computer scale" to "cluster scale," addressing both infrastructure and architectural challenges to support growing data volumes.

  • Best Practice Development: Plan and document best practices for future reuse, creating open, reusable patterns, templates, and codebases that benefit the broader engineering community.

  • External Collaboration: Work with senior technologists from across the enterprise and external partners to create integrations and ensure smooth handoffs to downstream operational systems.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Technical Foundation: Strong background in software engineering, programming, database systems, and distributed systems architecture.

  • Data Engineering Experience: Demonstrated experience in building, testing, and maintaining data pipelines at scale.

  • Programming Proficiency: Hands-on development skills with the ability to work at the code level and troubleshoot complex issues.
