Position Overview: Specialty Pharmacy Service Representative

As a Specialty Pharmacy Service Representative at arenaflex, you will be the vital link between patients receiving life-sustaining specialty drug therapy and the healthcare system they depend on. This is not your typical customer service role—it is a position where your skills directly impact patient outcomes and quality of life. You will provide telephone support to patients, guiding them through the complexities of specialty medication management with patience, expertise, and genuine care.

Our Specialty Mail Order Pharmacy handles intricate medication regimens that require careful coordination, and your role is essential to ensuring patients receive their medications on time, every time. You will be responsible for the overall coordination and processing of new patient medication orders and reorders, which includes verifying and reviving benefits, translating and entering new or refill prescriptions into our pharmacy information system, communicating and collecting copay amounts, obtaining authorizations, and working collaboratively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and internal teams to screen, identify, resolve, and appropriately defer orders that have accounts receivable or clinical issues.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities as a Specialty Pharmacy Service Representative will be diverse, challenging, and incredibly meaningful. Here's what you can expect:

• Benefits Verification: Verify and revive insurance benefits for specialty medications, navigating complex payer systems and ensuring patients understand their coverage options.


• Prescription Entry: Translate and accurately enter new or refill prescriptions into our pharmacy information system, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail.


• Copay Communication: Effectively communicate copay amounts to patients, explaining their financial responsibilities with clarity and empathy while exploring options for assistance programs when needed.


• Authorization Management: Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies and healthcare providers, advocating for patients to ensure they receive the medications they need.


• Insurance and Provider Liaison: Serve as a bridge between insurance companies, healthcare providers, and internal teams, coordinating care and resolving complex issues that arise during the medication fulfillment process.


• Issue Resolution: Screen, identify, resolve, and appropriately defer orders that have accounts receivable or clinical issues, ensuring financial and clinical expectations are met prior to fulfillment.


• Quality Assurance: Ensure the processing of specialty medications occurs in a timely manner while meeting all financial and clinical requirements, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

• Customer Service Experience: A minimum of one year experience in a customer service role handling and resolving a high volume of complex customer needs over the phone. You must be comfortable navigating challenging conversations while maintaining professionalism and empathy.


• Technical Proficiency: One year of work experience with Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and email applications. You should be comfortable learning new software systems quickly.


• Keyboard Skills: One year of computer keyboarding experience with demonstrated skills and aptitude for fast, accurate data entry.


• Education: Verifiable high school diploma or equivalent.


• Geographic Requirement: Candidates must reside in Florida and be located within 75 miles of our Orlando facility at 9310 Southpark Center Loop, Orlando, FL, 32819.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on healthcare work experience, particularly in pharmacy, medical, or clinical settings.


• Familiarity with benefits verification, insurance processes, prescription handling, and medical terminology.


• Previous experience in a specialty pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy environment.


• Understanding of prior authorization processes and patient assistance programs.

Work Schedule and Location

This is a work-from-home position based in Florida. Candidates must reside in Florida and be within 75 miles of our Orlando facility. We are currently offering the following shift schedules:

• 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM EST


• 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM EST

Shifts may include weekends and holidays based on business needs. We provide comprehensive training to ensure you have the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in a virtual work environment.
