Position Overview: Customer Service Associate

We are currently seeking a Customer Service Associate to join our retail operations team in Illinois. This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation of $27 per hour, with opportunities for advancement and professional development. Key Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will play a multifaceted role that goes beyond traditional cashiering. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Register Operations: Operate designated point-of-sale registers with accuracy and efficiency. Process customer purchases, handle cash, credit, and electronic payments, and ensure proper change distribution. Manage voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges as needed while maintaining strict compliance with company policies.
  • Customer Experience Delivery: Greet all customers and patients with warmth and professionalism. Offer assistance with products and services, actively listen to customer needs, and provide personalized recommendations. Resolve customer concerns and questions promptly to ensure a positive shopping experience that leaves a lasting impression.
  • Sales Enablement: Recommend items to customers based on their needs and preferences. Suggest complementary "buddy" items and upsell opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and drive store performance. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of store products to provide informed guidance.
  • Store Merchandising: Maintain clean, well-organized counters and retirement areas. Assist with inventory management, including checking in stock, pricing items, and conducting regular counts as directed by the store manager or shift lead. Participate in setting up promotional, seasonal, and sale displays with creativity and attention to detail.
  • Product Display and Organization: Support the proper separation of food items (e.g., separating raw foods from pre-cooked items) and ensure products are positioned according to company policies and procedures. Assist with stock rotation using FIFO (first in, first out) methods to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
  • Asset Protection: Implement company loss prevention strategies to identify and minimize profit loss. Remain vigilant in detecting and addressing potential shrinkage or security concerns in alignment with company guidelines.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to state and local laws regarding controlled products, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco items. Maintain accurate documentation and follow all regulatory requirements.
  • Photo Services: Provide exceptional customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, banner printing, and creative machine operations. Assist with special photo product sales and ensure customer satisfaction with photo orders.
  • Online Order Fulfillment: Handle web order responsibilities, including screening orders in Picture Care Plus, picking items, and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store. Ensure accurate and timely order processing.
  • Store Maintenance: Assist with internal and external store maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and welcoming environment. Contribute to the overall appearance and curb appeal of the store.
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and procedures while maintaining respectful, collaborative relationships with team members. Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned.
  • Continuous Learning: Attend required training sessions and complete all assigned PPLs (Personal Performance Larnings) as directed by the Store Manager or corporate team.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Note: This requirement may differ for positions in Puerto Rico.)
  • Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Retail environments require adaptability to meet peak shopping times and operational needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage customers in a friendly, welcoming manner. Excellent verbal communication and active listening abilities.
  • Technical Aptitude: Working knowledge of store systems and equipment, including point-of-sale terminals, inventory management software, and basic office equipment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry moderate loads, and perform repetitive motions associated with retail operations.

Preferred Qualifications
