Position Overview
We are currently looking for an experienced APAC Payroll Specialist to join our growing Finance team. This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while contributing to the efficient and accurate processing of payroll for our employees across the Asia-Pacific region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members across different countries and time zones.
As an APAC Payroll Specialist at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our employees receive their compensation accurately and on time, every time. You will be responsible for managing payroll processes for multiple countries within the APAC region, including Korea, Australia, and India, while maintaining full compliance with local regulations and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities as an APAC Payroll Specialist will include:
- Payroll Processing: Manage the end-to-end payroll processing for assigned APAC countries using our third-party payroll providers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.
- Weekly Expenses Processing: Handle weekly expense processing in-house through our Workday Host-to-Host payment system, maintaining meticulous records and ensuring proper authorization.
- Payroll Administration: Prepare, post, and process payroll changes including new hires, leavers, and status changes for each entity, ensuring all information is entered into Workday HCM accurately and promptly.
- Compliance Management: Responsible for reporting new hire and leaver files to the payroll provider within required timelines, ensuring all documentation complies with local regulations and company policies.
- Validation & Quality Control: Perform validation of payroll input against payroll checks and coordinate with payroll carriers for any required changes or corrections to ensure complete accuracy.
- Payment Coordination: Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure timely payout to employees and statutory payments, maintaining strong relationships with external partners.
- Reporting & Analysis: Carry out tasks related to monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reporting and taxation, ensuring all reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll questions through our Zendesk ticketing system, providing prompt and professional responses to inquiries.
- Budget Management: Record and screen monthly payroll costs and raise purchase orders as needed, maintaining financial accuracy and controls.
- Contract Management: Report and monitor payroll providers' contract renewal dates, ensuring proactive management of vendor relationships.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members in the Philippines and Singapore while following global system alignment and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field is required.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and accounting processing within a BPO or shared services environment.
- Regional Expertise: Experience in APAC payroll processing, with specific knowledge of payroll requirements in Korea, Australia, and India is essential.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll and associated statutory labor laws required for payroll-related calculations, ensuring full compliance across all assigned countries.
- Technical Proficiency: Above-average proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Microsoft Excel and Word, and Workday HCM systems.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with multinational companies and cross-cultural teams.
- Knowledge of additional APAC payroll systems and processes.
- Certification in payroll or accounting (e.g., CPA, CIPP) is a plus.
- Experience with Zendesk or similar ticketing systems.
