Join Our Corporate Information Systems (CIS) Team

Corporate Information Systems (CIS) at arenaflex is looking for a talented IT Application Analyst to join our growing Data Engineering team. Key Responsibilities
As an IT Application Analyst specializing in Data Engineering at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in our data infrastructure and solutions development. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead Engineering Efforts: Oversee the engineering work of multiple specialists on projects, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
- Design and Develop Solutions: Design, develop, and deliver scalable and efficient data solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business, utilizing modern data engineering frameworks and methodologies.
- Ensure Quality and Reliability: Guarantee the quality, reliability, and security of data solutions through rigorous testing, continuous monitoring, and proactive optimization efforts.
- Build Data Pipelines: Construct and deploy high-quality data architecture and pipelines to support comprehensive business reporting requirements and analytics initiatives.
- Monitor Performance: Monitor data pipelines and proactively identify and resolve any performance or reliability issues before they impact business operations.
- Maintain Data Quality: Ensure data quality and reliability by implementing robust data validation, error handling, and data cleansing strategies.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Interact with various teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources including but not limited to CSV, Excel, email attachments, SmartSheet, and more.
- Partner with Stakeholders: Work collaboratively with business clients, technical teams, and operations groups to address business requirements and deliver against high operational standards of system availability and reliability.
- Enhance System Functionality: Build and enhance software to extend system, application, or tool functionality to improve business processes and meet end-user needs while working within the overall system architecture.
- Analyze and Resolve Issues: Analyze and resolve operational issues, perform detailed root cause analysis, and propose recommendations for improvements.
- Document Processes: Document data engineering processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and maintain a robust knowledge base.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Leadership Experience: Experience providing oversight for data engineering projects, with the ability to guide and mentor team members effectively.
- Database Expertise: Proven experience with building, developing, maintaining, and enhancing scalable database systems including data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines alongside reporting solutions.
- AWS Experience: Extensive hands-on experience with AWS technologies including AWS Glue, AuroraDB (MySQL) - RDS, Amazon Workmail, Amazon SES, S3, Lambda, Redshift, SQS, IAM (Users, Groups, Roles and Permissions), VPC, and infrastructure configuration.
- Data Structures Knowledge: Experience working with modern data structures and Lambda-based models.
- SQL Proficiency: Strong capability in writing and optimizing SQL queries for complex data operations.
- Open Source Technologies: Knowledge and experience with Open Source Data Technologies including Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Pig, Flash, and similar frameworks.
- Programming Experience: 2+ years of development experience in Python, Ruby, Scala, or other platform-related big data technologies.
- Development Best Practices: Knowledge of efficient programming practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Reporting Tools: Experience building Reporting systems like QuickSight, PowerBI, or other business intelligence platforms.
- Data Warehousing: Experience building data warehouse reporting systems for Business Analysis across various technologies.
- UI/UX for Data Systems: Experience with responsive design and UI development for data entry systems, including writeback reporting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you an edge in this role:
- Experience with SmartSheet, Asana, HoneyCode, or Power Apps for workflow and data management.
- JavaScript and/or React JS knowledge and hands-on experience for building dynamic data interfaces.
- Industry experience as a Data Engineer or related specialty (e.g., Programmer, Business Intelligence Specialist, Data Scientist) with a history of managing, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
- Experience building data products iteratively and integrating and managing datasets from diverse sources.
- Query execution tuning abilities using Unix profiling tools and SQL optimization techniques.
- Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analysis projects, including utilizing AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, EC2, Data Pipeline, and other big data technologies.
- Experience with non-relational databases/data stores including object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, and column-family databases.
