Position Duties
As the Director of the Conservation Landscape Program, you will provide support to the Deputy Secretary for Conservation & Technical Services and act in an executive leadership capacity to develop, promote, plan, and advance conservation priorities, policy recommendations, and related projects. You will develop, implement, and coordinate Conservation Landscape Program goals, priorities, and outcomes; develop and track performance metrics for the Conservation Landscape Program; prepare an annual report of findings to be shared with internal and external audiences; and recommend actions to ensure appropriate progress is being made to meet program goals and priorities.
You will also have the opportunity to develop and review analyses of trends, policies, and programs related to the benefits of large landscape conservation for outdoor recreation and land conservation, sustainable tourism, cultural heritage, economic development, resource management, community engagement, land use, and planning. Within this role, you will employ your networking skills to lead the department’s collaborative engagement efforts with community leaders, state and federal agencies, and other interested parties related to conservation, outdoor recreation, cultural heritage, and resource management programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Administrative Officer 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)or
- Eight years of experience in progressively responsible and varied management or staff work, including personnel management, fiscal management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or universityor
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Academic or professional background in geography, landscape ecology, landscape architecture, regional planning, land use, or other fields related to large landscape conservation.
- Experience participating in or managing regional collaboratives, networks, or partnerships and demonstrated effectiveness at working across boundaries with people and organizations that have diverse and sometimes competing interests.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic plans, goal setting and prioritization, and developing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative progress metrics.
- Exceptionally strong and dynamic communication skills; ability to communicate in writing and orally with a range of internal and external audiences.
- Ability and willingness to travel, sometime overnight, to meet with partners, perform site visits, or represent the department at events.
