Underwriting Service Representative

Role: Full Time

Location: Remote - US

Team: Market Access

Who We Are

Semsee is building the only independent digital platform that covers the full small commercial insurance lifecycle — quoting, binding, and policy administration — across both admitted and E&S lines. Our Managed Access Program (MAP) is a technology-powered wholesale brokerage that gives retail agents instant access to 50+ carrier markets through a single platform. Agents enter risk information once and get comparative quotes in minutes, not days.

MAP is our primary growth engine, and we’re investing aggressively in building a dedicated sales organization for the first time. Backed by Adir Ventures, we have the capital, the technology, and the carrier relationships. What we’re adding now is the go-to-market muscle.

The Role

The Underwriting Service Representative will support Semsee’s Market Access team by providing quality service to agent clients. Similar to a traditional insurance CSR, you’ll help with daily servicing that will include the preparation of quotes/proposals, binding, client follow-ups, endorsement activity, and renewal control. The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, has a customer-first attitude, and can serve as a team player.

You will:

  • Assist with new business submissions
  • Review submissions for completeness and accuracy and make requests for information
  • Create electronic files by compiling and organizing all underwriting data and information, including internal and external correspondence, application information, policy documents, and other relevant documentation
  • Work directly with Retail Agents to collect state specific E&S forms to complete surplus lines tax filings on the Inscipher platform.
  • Prepare the binder, stamp with state-specific stamping (if applicable), generate the invoice, and package with the binder
  • Quote and/or issue endorsements, ensuring the accuracy of changes
  • Work closely with underwriters to ensure that all policy management activities (e.g., endorsements, cancellations, and renewals) are handled in a timely and appropriate manner

You’re well qualified for this role:

  • 2+ years of experience in Commercial Property/Casualty Insurance at a retail or wholesale agency preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance principles, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work meticulously and accurately within established guidelines
  • Technologically savvy and data-driven
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player with great interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with team members and external stakeholders
  • Experience in excess and surplus lines, a plus

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Base Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 yearly salary
  • Growth Opportunity: Ground floor opportunity as an early member of the Semsee team
  • Our Culture: An inclusive company culture that is being built intentionally to foster stimulating, healthy, meaningful and long lasting work relationships.
  • Fully remote workplace
  • Time Off: 4 weeks (20 Days) + 9 company observed holidays; Total 29 Days/Year
  • Benefits: 70% Funded Medical/Vision/Dental; 100% Funded Life Insurance; 401k, Roth IRA; Generous 12 Weeks Paid Baby Bonding Leave, +more
