Position Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Third Shift Custodian at Glenwood High School. This is a full-time position with hours typically scheduled from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday. The ideal candidate will thrive in a quiet, independent work environment and take pride in delivering high-quality cleaning and maintenance services.

As a Third Shift Custodian, you will have the unique opportunity to work during the evening hours when the building is calm and quiet, allowing you to focus on your tasks without interruption. Key Responsibilities

The Third Shift Custodian role encompasses a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties essential to keeping our school facilities in excellent condition. Your daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• General Cleaning Operations: Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting of all assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and common areas.


• Restroom Maintenance: Ensure all restrooms are clean, well-stocked, and properly sanitized throughout the shift, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.


• Floor Care: Maintain all floor surfaces including carpet cleaning, tile scrubbing, and hard floor maintenance using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions.


• Trash Removal: Collect and properly dispose of all trash and recyclables from throughout the building, ensuring waste stations are clean and organized.


• Set-Up and Break-Down: Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events, meetings, and activities as needed, ensuring spaces are ready for use.


• Safety and Security: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, reporting any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or security concerns immediately to appropriate personnel.


• Equipment Maintenance: Properly use, care for, and maintain all cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring equipment is stored safely and in good working condition.


• Inventory Management: Monitor cleaning supplies and report low inventory to ensure adequate stock is maintained at all times.


• Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other custodial staff, administrators, and faculty to ensure seamless building operations and positive working relationships.


• Special Projects: Participate in deep cleaning projects, seasonal cleaning, and other special assignments as directed by supervisory staff.

Compensation and Benefits

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Experience: Previous cleaning or custodial experience is preferred but not required—we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Reliability: Must be dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance, as our facilities rely on consistent coverage.
• Attention to Detail: Must take pride in work quality and demonstrate strong attention to detail in all cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and occasionally with students and parents.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions.

• Background Check: Must pass required background checks as mandated by state regulations.
