What You'll Do
As a Programmer II in the SPACE team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality software solutions for Windows users. Your work will directly impact how hundreds of millions of people experience authentication and account management across the Windows ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative authentication solutions using C++, WinRT, and WinUI to create next-generation experiences like Passkeys and secure account access across all Windows devices
- Build client-driven notification platforms that deliver timely, relevant, and personalized communications to users across mobile applications and Windows environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineers, Program Managers, UX Designers, AI/ML Researchers, and Customer Advocates to deliver features that leverage AI technologies in seamless and polished ways
- Design and implement features that utilize artificial intelligence technologies including speech recognition, computer vision, natural language processing, and machine learning
- Work with multimodal input systems to create flexible, accessible authentication and interaction paradigms
- Contribute to the technical vision and strategy of building scalable architecture with exceptional fundamentals including performance, power efficiency, and reliability
- Participate in the full development lifecycle from initial concept and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
- Mentor and learn from senior engineers and architects who shape the technical direction of our platform
- Ensure code quality by following best practices including design patterns, comprehensive testing, debugging, and continuous improvement

Essential Qualifications
- Passion for excellence – A genuine enthusiasm for developing high-quality Windows experiences that are powered by state-of-the-art technologies
- Educational background – Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Professional experience – Four or more years of experience (or equivalent relevant experience) in software development using technologies such as C++, WinUI, or XAML
- Technical proficiency – Hands-on experience with software engineering principles and best practices, including design patterns, code quality, testing, debugging, and performance optimization
- Development lifecycle expertise – Experience in the full development lifecycle of shipping software at scale
- Communication skills – Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with the capacity to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Collaboration mindset – Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive, supportive team
- AI/ML integration experience – Experience developing features and user experiences that utilize AI technologies such as speech, vision, and other machine learning capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Windows Hello and biometric authentication systems
- Background in security-focused development and cryptographic implementations
- Knowledge of cross-platform development and universal Windows platform (UWP) concepts
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices
- Understanding of user experience principles and ability to collaborate effectively with UX designers
