The Lease Accounting Team within our CRE division is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of all real estate assets, ensuring compliance with complex accounting standards, and providing actionable insights to senior leadership. As part of our Finance organization, you'll work alongside talented professionals who share your commitment to accuracy, innovation, and continuous improvement.

This position is based within our South East Practice, which supports internal stakeholders across the organization. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with teams in Finance, Real Estate, Lease Administration, and Legal to drive alignment and deliver excellence in all aspects of our financial operations.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Lease Accounting Team Lead, you'll be responsible for overseeing all lease accounting activities within our Corporate Real Estate portfolio. Your role will encompass team leadership, technical accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement. Here's what you can expect:


  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team: Manage a team of 5 professionals responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards related to real estate leases, asset leases, and consolidated leases (including ASC 842 and IFRS). You'll coach, mentor, and develop your team members, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment that encourages growth and excellence.
  • Prepare and Review Financial Entries: Oversee the preparation and review of loan book entries for global transactions, including collections and adjustments. You'll ensure accuracy and completeness in all financial records while maintaining adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Quarterly Financial Close and Reporting: Manage account balances and prepare explanations for changes associated with lease accounts during quarterly closings. You'll also prepare 10Q/10K ASC 842 reports and ensure all financial statements are accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead SOX Compliance Audits: Direct the quarterly SOX Audit Team to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all real estate, asset, and loan transactions. You'll work closely with internal and external auditors to address audit findings and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Manage Real Estate Operating Expenses: Lead a 3-person team responsible for paying all Real Estate Operating Expenses (REO). You'll ensure timely payments while maintaining financial accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Quarterly CRE Coverage Analysis: Manage the company's quarterly CRE coverage, including totals, margins, exposure F/S, reasons for change analysis, and volatility reporting. You'll provide strategic insights to leadership that inform business decisions.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through continuous monitoring and enhancement of existing processes. You'll stay current on changes in lease accounting standards and lead initiatives to implement best practices.
  • Contribute to Strategic Projects: Participate in various corporate initiatives, including Tririga (Lease Management/Accounting Software) changes, S4/Hana implementation, and other technology-driven transformations. Your expertise will help shape the future of our financial systems.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Real Estate, Lease Administration, and Legal teams to understand the meaning of accounting records and resolve any accounting issues or discrepancies. You'll serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor.

What We're Looking For: Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need a combination of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and personal attributes that enable you to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Here are the qualifications we're seeking:

Experience & Background


  • 1-4 Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum of 3 years in accounting roles, with at least 2 years of management or team lead experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with real estate accounting, lease accounting standards (ASC 842, IFRS 16), and financial reporting requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of internal controls, control environments, and accounting systems. Experience with SAP is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:


  • Experience with lease accounting software such as Tririga or similar platforms.
  • Background in S/4HANA implementation or other ERP transformations.
  • Public accounting experience, particularly with Big 4 firms.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience in the entertainment, hospitality, or retail real estate industries.
