About the Role
arenaflex is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Science Consultant to join our Customer Excellence Data and Analytics (CEDA) organization. This is a pivotal role where you will own the full analytics development cycle—from mining and analyzing complex datasets to building sophisticated predictive models using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques.
In this position, you will be responsible for identifying performance issues and uncovering opportunities that drive customer satisfaction and business growth. Your work will directly impact how we understand, engage, and serve our customers across all touchpoints. You'll transform raw data into actionable insights and build comprehensive documentation of validation methods and results that stakeholders across the organization can trust and act upon.
What You'll Do
As a Lead Data Science Consultant at arenaflex, you will play a strategic role in driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Complex Analytics Initiatives: Design and execute data-driven projects utilizing advanced analytical, statistical techniques, algorithms, and models to uncover actionable insights, trends, and recommendations that have cross-functional impact across multiple business units.
- Build Strategic Recommendations: Develop and deliver recommendations in complex, multi-faceted situations requiring deep analytical expertise and strong technical capabilities to resolve sophisticated business challenges.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Strategically partner and consult with peers, colleagues, and leadership to drive recommendations and strategies based on data-driven insights, trends, and patterns that resolve issues and achieve organizational goals.
- Innovative Problem Solving: Execute complex analytical experiments and create innovative statistical models to discover solutions for abstract business problems across various domains including customer behavior, risk assessment, and service optimization.
- Advanced Data Interpretation: Interpret and analyze data using advanced analytics modeling methods and programming to recommend ways to solve problems and influence business decisions and strategies.
- Knowledge Sharing: Provide consultation to peers on data science best practices, methods, and tools to leverage, serving as a subject matter expert and thought leader in the analytics community.
- Communicate Insights Effectively: Translate complex analytical findings into digestible formats for non-technical audiences at varying levels of the organization, ensuring stakeholders can understand and act on insights.
Required Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring a robust combination of experience, education, and technical expertise:
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of data science experience, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Education: Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Desired Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out and excel in this role:
- Technical Proficiency: Fluency in SAS, Python, and SQL (specifically Teradata) for data manipulation, analysis, and model development.
- Advanced Analytics Skills: Deep experience with Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to solve complex business problems.
- Emerging Technology: Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their application in business contexts is highly preferred.
- Model Development Expertise: Extensive experience in model development and model validation, including end-to-end model building efforts from discovery through deployment.
- Communication Excellence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Model Testing Proficiency: Adept at designing and performing comprehensive model testing, including explainability analysis, robustness testing, and fairness testing to ensure model reliability and ethical use.
- Documentation Skills: Proficient in creating detailed, high-quality documentation throughout the model development process.
