Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Trust and Safety organization as the Senior Director of Trust and Safety – Anti-Abuse and Analytics Operations. In this critical role, you will lead our global efforts to combat malicious activity, protect our user community, and ensure the integrity of our platform. You will oversee both the Anti-Abuse team, responsible for identifying and mitigating threats such as account takeovers, spam, and engagement manipulation, and the Business Analytics team, which generates actionable insights and produces transparency reports for stakeholders worldwide.
This position requires a visionary leader who can anticipate emerging threats, drive operational excellence, and collaborate cross-functionally to build robust detection and prevention mechanisms. You will report directly to senior leadership and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of platform safety at arenaflex.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and mentor the Anti-Abuse team, responsible for detecting and removing bad actors attempting account takeovers, spam, engagement manipulation, evasion of suspensions, and other forms of platform abuse. Inspire and develop high-performing teams across multiple time zones.
- Analytics Oversight: Manage the Business Analytics team, accountable for measuring abuse prevalence, interpreting complex datasets, generating actionable insights, and producing quarterly Transparency Reports for governments and stakeholders worldwide.
- Threat Intelligence: Understand, anticipate, and proactively address risks arising from new and scaling industry trends, including emerging technologies such as generative AI that may be exploited for malicious purposes.
- Policy Collaboration: Work closely with the Policy Development team to create robust policies utilizing account, social, and content signals to characterize harmful behavior and establish clear enforcement guidelines.
- Operational Excellence: Deliver effective and efficient operational performance—including quality, service levels, and response times—in a global team operating 24×7. Ensure seamless coordination across regions and functions.
- Talent Management: Attract, retain, manage, and develop top talent. Build a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within your teams.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Manage escalations with rapid turnaround times, provide data-driven insights, and implement solutions while cultivating strong relationships with Product Management, Engineering, and Global Operations teams to launch new products and policies that effectively prevent abuse.
- On-Call Leadership: Participate in periodic on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays on a rotational basis, to address critical incidents and ensure business continuity.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating analytical expertise.
- Experience in Risk Management: Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management, fraud detection at scale, and building/conveying analytical insights that drive business decisions.
- Technical Collaboration: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with engineering teams to build data infrastructure and machine learning models that power detection and prevention systems.
- Leadership Capabilities: Minimum of 2 years of experience leading teams with the ability to work non-standard work weeks as business accelerations require, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in fast-paced environments.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable strategies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: Master's degree or higher in a related field such as Analytics, Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, or equivalent professional certification.
- Big Data Expertise: Minimum of 2 years of experience with analysis of large datasets and anomaly detection techniques, utilizing statistical methods to identify irregular patterns.
- Anti-Abuse Domain Knowledge: Experience or demonstrated interest in anti-abuse operations, fraud prevention, or trust and safety initiatives within technology platforms.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL, R, or Matlab for data extraction, analysis, and visualization. Familiarity with Python, Java, or other programming languages is a plus.
- Executive Presence: Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Excellent business judgment, strategic and analytical skills, including the ability to use data to drive strategy and business outcomes. Capacity to work in a rapidly changing industry and manage ambiguity while minimizing uncertainty through quantitative insights.
- Global Perspective: Understanding of international regulations, cultural nuances, and regional compliance requirements related to content moderation and platform safety.
