About the Role

We're seeking an intellectually curious, business-savvy analytical powerhouse to join arenaflex as a Senior Data Instrumentation Scientist within our Advertising Sales division. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for driving enhancements across our portfolio of advertising services through the power of data. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you'll develop, drive, and oversee new techniques to ensure sustainable business growth and overall profitability.

As part of our Audience Modeling and Data Science group, you'll serve as a challenge count specialist in every of the following areas: creating and optimizing target market class models that enable us to predict and target strategic audience attributes, including brand affinity, purchase behavior, and psychographics; integrating a large suite of complex datasets, from virtual event logs to content event metadata, into carefully curated and reusable data models; publishing audience attributes across an array of ad-serving endpoints; and working cross-functionally to ensure our data products are aligned with the objectives of every strategic sales vertical and the business as a whole.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Instrumentation Scientist at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in advancing our advertising technology capabilities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:


  • Machine Learning Excellence: Maintain and expand machine learning methods, enabling training and scoring at scale. You'll design and implement advanced algorithms that power our audience targeting capabilities, ensuring our models deliver accurate and actionable insights.

  • Data Pipeline Development: Develop and own data processing pipelines that stitch together streaming, advertising, and other feeds at the terabyte scale. You'll build robust, scalable systems that can handle the massive data volumes generated by our global advertising operations.

  • Data Modeling: Transform complex data relationships into consumable and intuitive data models. You'll work to simplify complexity while preserving the richness of our data assets, making them accessible and valuable across the organization.

  • Tool Implementation: Implement modern authoring, orchestration, and tracking tools that enhance our data science workflows and ensure reliable, repeatable processes.

  • Audience Model Creation: Create and optimize target market class models that enable prediction and targeting of strategic audience attributes, including brand affinity, purchase behavior, and psychographics.

  • Dataset Integration: Integrate diverse and complex datasets, from virtual event logs to content event metadata, into carefully curated and reusable data models that drive business intelligence.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with strategic sales verticals and business stakeholders to ensure data products align with overall business objectives and drive measurable outcomes.

Key Qualifications

We're looking for candidates who bring a proven track record of success in data science or data engineering. The ideal candidate will have:


  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in data science or data engineering, including fluency in machine learning techniques and how they relate to underlying datasets.

  • Cloud Expertise: Strong experience in Google Cloud, with exceptional proficiency in BigQuery or similar SQL-based massive data warehouse solutions.

  • Programming Skills: Solid experience in Python, with a proven ability to read, write, audit, and document code that meets professional standards.

  • Technical Communication: Ability to write detailed technical requirements that clearly communicate specifications to cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Strategic Thinking: Innovative thinker capable of operating both strategically (big-picture perspective, asks "why") and hands-on/execution-focused (detail-oriented, conscientious).

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related analytical field.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Candidates with the following additional skills will be considered favorably:


  • Experience with Apache Beam and Apache Spark for large-scale data processing

  • Proficiency in data pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or Snowpipe

  • Strong track record of maintaining team projects in Git and GitHub repositories

  • Experience developing internal APIs that enable data access and integration

  • Knowledge of streaming data technologies and real-time analytics

  • Background in advertising technology or digital marketing analytics

Compensation & Benefits

We recognize that our people are our greatest asset, and we're committed to providing competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. The hiring range for this role is $136,038 to $182,490 per year. The base pay actually offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
