Position Overview
The Information Researcher - Real World Evidence (RWE) at arenaflex will be responsible for producing high-quality Real World Evidence through advanced research and innovative methodologies in the clinical trials space. As a key member of the Scientific Projects team, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging your expertise in data science and technology to influence decision-making both internally and externally.
In this position, you will conduct sophisticated data analysis to help address critical business questions and contribute to groundbreaking research initiatives. This role reports to the Chief of Clinical Data Science and offers the opportunity to work with diverse datasets, cutting-edge analytical tools, and cross-functional teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. Analyze and interpret results while helping shape overall analysis strategy to ensure accurate and actionable insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trials team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. Potential projects include analysis of unmet needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Data Management and Integration: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team usage. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.
- Statistical Analysis and Insights Discovery: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply advanced statistical techniques to uncover patterns and trends that inform healthcare decisions.
- Platform and Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities by applying advanced analysis and tools to answer scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytical infrastructure.
- Research Study Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and scientific validity. Work closely with study sponsors to meet their research objectives.
- Quality Assurance and Interpretation: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain high standards of accuracy and clarity in all deliverables.
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use. Create compelling visual representations of complex data that effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Vendor Assessment and Quality Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors. Drive RWD quality assessments to inform project decisions and ensure we work with the highest quality data sources.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Strong foundation in statistical methodology and research design.
- Statistical Techniques Proficiency: Knowledge of common statistical testing techniques including generalized linear models, clustering and discrimination, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Ability to apply the appropriate statistical methods based on research questions.
- Large-Scale Data Handling: Experience processing large data from multiple data sources. Comfortable working with complex, high-dimensional datasets and managing data at scale.
- Healthcare Data Privacy: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with the highest level of confidentiality and in compliance with relevant regulations such as HIPAA.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI/visualization tools. Ability to create impactful visualizations and dashboards that drive decision-making.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Advanced training in quantitative methods is highly valued.
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Familiarity with the healthcare data landscape and understanding of data provenance.
- Clinical Data Standards: Expertise in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10, Read Codes, SNOMED CT, etc.).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO standards, MDD/MDR, CFR Title 21). Understanding of the regulatory framework governing healthcare research.
- Innovative Data Collection Methods: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions. Interest in digital health, wearable devices, and patient-generated health data.
- Advanced Analytical Skills: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics. Knowledge of machine learning methods and their application in healthcare research.
- Continuous Learning: Understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with the ability to continuously self-learn technical and non-technical skills. Curiosity and enthusiasm for staying current with industry developments.
