Position Overview

As a Remote Pharmacy Services Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for performing patient enrollment, processing prescription information, and handling high-volume customer requests in compliance with state and federal regulations. You will work under direct supervision, following established protocols and organizational policies to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of data management.

This position requires a commitment to excellence, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a remote work environment. You will be using state-of-the-art pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and medication information, investigate missing prescription data, and resolve any exceptions or issues that arise during the data entry process.

Key Responsibilities


  • Patient Enrollment & Data Entry: Process new patient enrollment by accurately entering information into the appropriate pharmacy systems in accordance with arenaflex data entry guidelines and HIPAA regulations.

  • Prescription Processing: Handle patient medication requests, including refill orders, and ensure all information is processed correctly for timely dispensing.

  • Data Investigation & Resolution: Investigate and obtain missing prescription information, decode clinical abbreviations and SIG codes, and resolve all data entry-related exceptions with precision and accuracy.

  • Patient Communication: Manage correspondence with patients through inbound calls, visits, and emails, as well as make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as needed to resolve issues or gather additional information.

  • Third-Party Issue Resolution: Resolve third-party insurance issues by inspecting claims, collecting necessary information, making adjustments, and resubmitting for processing according to individual plan requirements.

  • Insurance Coordination: Make phone calls to insurers and other parties to obtain information, gain override approvals, or otherwise resolve third-party issues efficiently.

  • Pharmacist Support: Provide assistance to Pharmacists, both those in the office and those in other locations, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Escalation: Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.

  • Compliance: Must acquire an active pharmacy technician license or certification within the first 90 days of employment and maintain an active license or certification thereafter.

Essential Qualifications


  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Computer Skills: Basic level proficiency with personal computers, including the ability to start up and shut down computers, use mouse navigation, open and close programs, switch between applications, save documents, print reports, and access information online.

  • Internet Skills: Basic internet search engine skills, including opening browsers, typing URLs correctly, using search engines, bookmarking websites, navigating using back/forward/stop buttons, and completing online forms.

  • Keyboard Skills: Intermediate keyboarding abilities with a minimum typing speed of 25 WPM, including typing from memory and formatting documents.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.

  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Licensure: Willingness and ability to obtain an active pharmacy technician license or certification within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or call center environment.

  • Advanced Certification: At least 1.5 years as a pharmacy technician with state certification/registration as granted by the State Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification body.

  • Customer Service: Proven experience providing exceptional customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality service standards and demonstrating high levels of patient satisfaction.

  • Advanced Typing Skills: Intermediate to advanced keyboarding abilities with a minimum typing speed of 35 WPM, including typing from memory and formatting documents efficiently.

  • Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly preferred to serve our diverse patient population.
