Role Overview: Family Services Support Specialist

As a Family Services Support Specialist at arenaflex, you will serve as a vital link between families who have achieved permanency and the community resources they need to thrive. Your primary responsibility will be to empower families and children by ensuring they have access to the support, services, and advocacy they deserve.

In this role, you will work with diverse families who have found permanency through various pathways, including reintegration with biological families, adoption, custodianship, guardianship, and youth who have aged out of foster care. Each family's journey is unique, and your role will be to provide personalized support that meets their specific needs.

You will act as a resource coordinator, advocate, and mentor, helping families navigate complex systems, access community resources, and overcome challenges. Your work will be instrumental in helping families sustain their achievements and build stronger, more resilient futures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Family Services Support Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Resource Connection: Research, identify, and connect families with appropriate community resources, including healthcare services, educational programs, financial assistance, housing support, mental health services, and childcare options.

  • Case Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, document all interactions and services provided, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Family Assessments: Conduct assessments to identify family needs, strengths, and areas for growth. Use this information to develop individualized support plans that address each family's unique circumstances.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide consistent follow-up and check-ins with families to monitor progress, address emerging challenges, and adjust support plans as needed.
  • Education and Guidance: Educate families about available resources, empower them with knowledge and skills to navigate systems independently, and provide guidance on parenting strategies, financial management, and other life skills.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to family crises with empathy and efficiency, providing immediate support and connecting families with emergency services when necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals, including social workers, counselors, school personnel, and healthcare providers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support for families.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to expand resource networks and enhance service delivery.
