Position Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Customer Service Representative I to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are eager to learn all aspects of insurance customer service within the property and casualty sector. Under direct supervision, you will receive extensive training that will prepare you for a long-term career with arenaflex.

This trainee position is specifically designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a fully functional Insurance Customer Service Representative. You will work closely with experienced team members, including CSR II and Lead CSR professionals, who will mentor you throughout your journey. Our comprehensive training program ensures that you gain practical experience while learning the intricacies of insurance operations, policy servicing, and member relations.

What You Will Do

As an Insurance Customer Service Representative I at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our policyholders. Your primary responsibilities will include:


  • Telephone Communication: Answer incoming phone calls to process address change requests, handle claim-related inquiries, and process payments. You will learn how to effectively counsel clients regarding procedural matters affecting their claims, including handling calls from upset insureds with empathy and professionalism. Additionally, you will advise clients of available options in pursuing a claim and attempt to cross-sell other lines of insurance and arenaflex products and services when appropriate. Complex questions will be elevated to the next level of customer service authority as needed.
  • Discount Processing: Process discounts received through email or mail with careful attention to detail. You will use good judgment to apply the correct effective date of discounts and ensure that proper documentation is received and maintained in accordance with our quality standards.
  • Premium Research and Resolution: Assist CSR II and Lead CSR team members in researching premium differences to identify the origin of discrepancies. You will obtain necessary information from master files, selling agents, and insurance companies to resolve issues effectively. This role will help you develop an understanding of rating theory and premium structures. You will also contact insureds to explain premium differences with clear, professional communication.
  • Training and Development: Under direct supervision, learn all aspects of the Insurance Customer Service function. You will be responsible for developing strong computer skills utilizing insurance software platforms and the Microsoft Office suite. This includes developing technical knowledge of the insurance industry and becoming familiar with arenaflex's policies and procedures. You will adapt a Five Diamond Service attitude, focusing on building strong, lasting customer relationships.
  • Mail Processing: Process returned mail received from insureds and insurance companies. You will strive to obtain working knowledge of the impacts of errors and correct errors on returned mail in a timely and effective manner, ensuring data integrity across all systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete pre-insurance inspection forms and send form letters to insureds as generated by CSRII and Lead CSR team members. Process various types of incoming insurance mail, including discount forms, driver change requests, and cancellation notices.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:


  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Additionally, attainment of Property & Casualty (P&C) License is required within two years of job entry. We support our employees through this licensing process with comprehensive study materials and dedicated time for exam preparation.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a customer service environment is preferred. This can include retail, hospitality, call center, or other service-oriented positions that demonstrate your ability to work effectively with customers and handle various situations professionally.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to listen actively, empathize with customers, and provide clear, accurate information. Strong written communication skills are also essential for processing correspondence and documentation.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable learning new software systems and technologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is beneficial.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify discrepancies while maintaining accuracy in processing paperwork and data entry.
