Position Overview


We are looking for an experienced Flight Operations Performance Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing departure and landing performance data, developing and maintaining performance systems, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for safety investigations and work collaboratively with flight crews, maintenance teams, and third-party vendors to continuously improve operational efficiency.

This critical role involves comprehensive analysis of aircraft performance across all phases of flight, maintaining complex databases, and providing expert guidance on weight and balance operations. You will be instrumental in supporting our fuel efficiency initiatives and ensuring that our flight operations meet or exceed industry standards for safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities



  • Performance Data Management: Maintain accurate departure and landing performance data including obstacle data, one-engine-inoperative (OEI) procedures, and MEL (Minimum Equipment List) performance penalties to ensure safe flight operations.

  • System Development & Maintenance: Create and maintain SCAP (Standardized Computer Aircraft Performance) modules and interfaces, ensuring seamless integration with other operational systems.

  • Vendor Coordination: Work closely with third-party vendors to maintain company Weight & Balance (W&B) and performance systems, ensuring data accuracy and system reliability.

  • Manual Oversight: Provide comprehensive oversight of company Flight Operations manuals and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Weight & Balance Support: Support Maintenance and Flight Operations teams in weight and balance calculations and tasks, providing technical expertise and guidance.

  • RNAV Development: Create and maintain company RNAV (Area Navigation) Visual procedures, ensuring optimal routing for operational efficiency and safety.

  • Database Management: Maintain oversight of company navigation databases and flight procedures, ensuring currency and accuracy of all navigational data.

  • Flight Crew Liaison: Collaborate with flight crews to identify areas for improvement in company policies and procedures, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Performance Analysis: Utilize advanced computer-based tools to analyze aircraft performance for all phases of flight, from takeoff to landing.

  • Safety Expertise: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for safety investigations, providing technical analysis and recommendations for incident prevention.

  • Fuel Efficiency Initiatives: Aid in the implementation of eco-friendliness measures and represent Flight Activities in the Fuel Governing Panel, contributing to our sustainability goals.

  • Flight Planning Systems: Lend expertise to flight planning systems and facilities, ensuring optimal route selection and fuel planning.

  • Customer Service Standards: Model arenaflex's customer care standards in all activities and while providing guidance to team members.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Essential Qualifications


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.

Experience



  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in aircraft operational efficiency, performance analysis, or a related technical role within the aviation industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and cross-functional team collaboration.

  • Proven track record in managing third-party vendor relationships.

Technical Skills



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Working knowledge of programming languages including C#, Visual C, Visual Basic, and FORTRAN.

  • In-depth understanding of 14 CFR Parts 25 and 121 Aircraft Performance Limitations and Requirements.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of A320/B737 family aircraft weight and balance procedures and systems.

  • Understanding of aircraft flight envelopes and abbreviations per FAA AC 120-27.

Work Authorization



  • Must be authorized to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.

  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Possession of a valid pilot's license (Private or Commercial) is highly desirable.

  • Previous experience with airline operations in a similar capacity.

  • Familiarity with EASA regulations and international aviation standards.

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a related technical field.

  • Experience with flight deck automation and modern airline operating systems.
