What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for applying highly complex, advanced data science, predictive analytics, and AI techniques to provide insights and meaningful recommendations. You'll serve as a trusted analytical advisor, supporting application development and driving cross-functional initiatives that transform how our business operates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build Models and Tools: Develop sophisticated models and analytical tools using advanced techniques in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. You'll continuously optimize these models by incorporating new modeling techniques and frameworks as the field evolves.
• Translate Business Reality into Data Solutions: Understand the underlying business reality behind large datasets and develop meaningful analytical solutions that address real business challenges. Your work will bridge the gap between technical complexity and business value.
• Apply Scientific Rigor: Apply rigorous scientific methodology and statistical techniques to analyze vast amounts of data. This includes advanced statistical methods such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, and data mining. You'll construct recommendations and optimization algorithmic plans, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and analytical computation.
• Program with Cutting-Edge Technologies: Work with our tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other industry-standard tools to build robust analytical solutions.
• Implement Machine Learning Techniques: Apply both supervised and unsupervised algorithms to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions that support various business use cases across the organization.
• Develop Advanced Algorithms: Build and implement algorithms including decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means, anomaly detection, interpretable ML, and Bayesian theory to solve complex business problems.
• Leverage Cloud Computing: Utilize cloud computing platforms such as Azure and Databricks, perform querying in Snowflake, and work with distributed computing infrastructure to handle large-scale data operations.
• Use Modern Development Practices: Employ programming tools and techniques including GitHub, continuous integration and delivery, and agile methodologies to ensure efficient and collaborative development cycles.
• Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support throughout the development lifecycle.
• Communicate Effectively: Deliver findings verbally and in writing to business clients and leadership teams with varying levels of technical knowledge. You'll educate stakeholders about our systems while sharing actionable insights and recommendations that drive business decisions.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative analysis, or computational capabilities OR High School/GED with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced Degree Preferred: M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Experience with Large-Scale Data: Minimum 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create or enhance AI, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
• Programming Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages.
• Analytical Skills: Strong expertise in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, identifying patterns, analyzing distributions, visualizing results, and extracting insights to help the business make informed, data-driven decisions.
• Machine Learning Knowledge: Experience using decision trees and building classifiers, along with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning methods (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components).
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with Cloud ML platforms, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
• Testing & Experimentation: Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests to measure and optimize business outcomes.
• Communication Skills: Advanced ability to convey rigorous technical concepts and considerations to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Adaptability: Experience working in a dynamic environment, managing ambiguity, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results under pressure.
• Implementation Experience: Proven track record of effectively delivering technical solutions and advocating for analytical approaches to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.
• Business Acumen: At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
• Leadership Skills: At least 2 years of direct management, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience.
• Travel Availability: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, both within state and out of state.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Experience working with IoT and Edge AI is a strong plus.
• Experience in Reinforcement Learning is a significant advantage.
• Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
